Week 8 Preview: Big 12 Playoff Math – Houston at Utah, BYU's Trap Game at UCF & Week 8 Picks

A wild national weekend changed the College Football Playoff picture, and we start by asking how many Big 12 teams can realistically make the field. Next is a full preview of Houston at Utah: whether it's a real test for a contender, where each team has the edge, and our scoring bet. We also take a detour into quarterback drama, covering Michigan, NIL pressure and BYU recruiting. Then we ask whether BYU can avoid a letdown at UCF after the big Notre Dame win. After that we run through the other Big 12 games to watch (Arizona, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, TCU and Colorado), give our national upset picks and playoff-rooting interests, and close with Ole Miss vs. Texas and what it means for the quarterbacks and the playoff.

Week 7 Recap: BYU's Statement Win Over Notre Dame & Anarchy Across College Football

BYU makes a statement in a wild college football weekend. We recap the Cougars' win over Notre Dame: the fast start, the key swings and a defining defensive performance. Then we look at why the win changes how the country sees BYU and how high its playoff ceiling goes, and whether the Cougars can avoid a letdown. We also cover Utah's narrow escape against Colorado and the deeper problems and coaching questions it exposed. Houston, West Virginia, Kansas State, TCU and Baylor all moved the Big 12 race. On the national side: the SEC pileup, worries about Texas and an unsettled Big Ten. We finish with reactions to the polls and the Big 12's path to getting more than one team into the playoff.

Week 7 Preview: BYU vs. Notre Dame Showdown, Utah–Colorado & SEC Elimination Week

BYU hosts Notre Dame in a game with big stakes. We go over the hype, what it means for the rankings, and how BYU matches up: our worries about the offense, the defense's path to slowing the Irish, and what an upset would take. Then we give score predictions and talk about what the game means for BYU, the Big 12 and the atmosphere in Provo. Next we turn to Utah vs. Colorado and the Isaac Wilson subplot, then check in on the Big 12 race: Houston–Oklahoma State, Kansas State–Kansas, TCU–Baylor and Texas Tech–Arizona State. We also ask whether Indiana can really threaten Ohio State, break down SEC elimination week (Alabama–Tennessee, Ole Miss–Missouri, Texas–Florida) and highlight underrated Big Ten games: UCLA–Wisconsin and Nebraska–Oregon. We wrap up with our weekly picks, underdogs and some thoughts on coaches and how much programs swing from year to year.

Week 6 Recap: BYU Rolls Past Iowa State, Notre Dame Looms & the Big 12 Race Tightens

Ben and Caleb break down Week 6. BYU is back from its bye week and handles Iowa State, but losing LJ Martin raises new questions about the run game. Is it ready for Notre Dame? They cover the passing game's big moments and the defense that keeps carrying the team. Then they talk about the GameDay buzz and what a Notre Dame matchup means for BYU and the Big 12. Around the conference, Utah beats Kansas but leaves doubts about how good it can be, Houston moves into the top tier, Arizona rises and Oklahoma State steadies itself. Beyond the Big 12, they question the idea that the SEC dominates, look at Oregon's loss and UCLA's climb in the Big Ten, and finish with poll inertia, the CFP rankings and the playoff path for BYU and Utah.

Week 5: BYU–TCU, Big 12 Chaos, and a Playoff Picture Taking Shape

Week 5 of the college football season is here, and the local focus is squarely on BYU–TCU — a matchup that feels trickier than the records suggest. From there we run the Big 12 contenders (Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Cincinnati, Iowa State), get into the Colorado quarterback debate, and preview the national slate: Ohio State–Iowa, Alabama–Mississippi State, Florida, and the ACC spotlights. We lock in official picks (BYU, Baylor, Arizona, Pitt–Virginia Tech and more), share best bets and upset-cover selections, then dig into an updated College Football Playoff picture and the conference-bid math — including the wild Big 12 chaos path that could set up a BYU–Utah playoff play-in.
