Not Just A Terrible Story

The main person really isn’t a victim. Was the guy gross to her in high school? Yes. He is horrid. But she chose to date him as a 20 year old. Marry him. She chose to ignore information and concerns. She had kids with him. Then she decided that she wasn’t happy, didn’t trust him, can’t be around him one more day, but was ok to allow her children to be alone with him part time. She didn’t want her daughter to see marriage like that… but was been ok to let her kids see their nasty dad go on to act out and be around their teen friends with out her being there to protect. She knows this is likely to happen but is too caught up in reclaiming her lost youth to even put her children’s safety first. That’s what happens when you divorce and you have to split custody, you aren’t there to protect your kids. But she was happy to go wild and be single, then shack up with a boyfriend. So no, she’s not a victim, she makes bad decisions and blames others. Society needs to quit normalizing teen sex. You can’t allow and support teens doing adult behavior with real consequences, then act shocked when they have sex with adults. They shouldn’t be doing it all. This sends mixed messages. I am really glad to see the outrage against the school system and teachers involved.

This was a really great listen and extremely enlightening. The rules or components of grooming felt all too familiar, though I never thought of it in that way at the time. As a GenX mom of 2 daughters, it has me thinking about all the ways I should talk to them about grooming, what it looks like, and listening and trusting that inner “uh oh” voice. The bonus episode with the special agents was the cherry on top of a really difficult subject but an incredibly important season. Thank you for all your research and reporting on this!

So well done. The people saying she was not a victim must not have actually listened. You can’t just take one piece of this and create your own narrative of what happened to someone else. To future listeners, listen with an open mind and heart. This was incredibly done - thank you.

This podcast is a scam!! Our justice system is innocent until proven guilty!! Everything is innuendo and he was never charged! I was waiting for the shoe to drop I was waiting for some serious investigation but no we have accusations and no proof he is definitely a gross human but there was no crimes and Stacey was very naive to the point of ignorance. But she stayed with him for 7 years after. The investigators didn’t say anything of importance. I wasted so much time on this podcast do not recommend it.
