Who Is God, Really? Understanding His Character and Trusting His Timing

Who is God beyond what we've heard about Him? And how does knowing His character change the way we trust Him, especially when life doesn't make sense? In this episode of The Becoming Sessions, Joanne and James Marime explore the nature of God through Scripture, personal testimonies, and honest reflections on faith: His love, holiness, omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, justice, and faithfulness, and what they mean for our everyday lives. But knowing these truths is only the beginning. How do we trust God's character through uncertainty, suffering, difficult seasons, and unanswered prayers? Through stories of His protection and conversations about prayer, spiritual warfare, suffering, eternal life, and divine timing, we explore what it means to place our confidence in who God is, even when we can't fully understand His ways. IN THIS EPISODE - God's sacrificial love and the redemption found in Jesus Christ - His holiness, righteousness, and the seriousness of sin - God's omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence - His justice and faithfulness to His promises - Personal testimonies of protection and divine timing - Understanding suffering and trusting God's sovereignty - The power of prayer and spiritual warfare - Death, eternal life, and our hope in God - How knowing God's character strengthens our faith in difficult seasons SCRIPTURES TO REFLECT ON - 1 John 4:8 – God is love - Isaiah 6:3 – God's holiness - Psalm 139:1–12 – God's knowledge and presence - Jeremiah 32:17 – Nothing is too difficult for God - Deuteronomy 32:4 – God's justice and faithfulness - Lamentations 3:22–23 – His mercies are new every morning - Proverbs 3:5–6 – Trusting the Lord with all your heart CHAPTERS 00:00 Introduction to the Character of God 02:41 God's Love and Sacrifice 04:05 God's Holiness and Blood Atonement 06:23 God's Omniscience and Omnipresence 07:47 God's Justice and Fair Judgment 09:02 God's Faithfulness and Promises 10:28 Examples of God's Love and Faithfulness 16:37 Personal Testimonies of God's Protection 22:37 Understanding Suffering and God's Sovereignty 28:22 God's Protection in Life's Challenges 36:45 Trusting God's Timing and Faithfulness 44:00 The Power of Prayer and Spiritual Warfare 55:44 God's Work in Our Lives and Seasons 1:02:34 Death, Eternal Life, and Trust in God 1:05:17 Encouragement to Trust God's Plan and Timing 1:07:58 Closing Remarks and Prayer of Faith A QUESTION FOR YOU Which attribute of God has helped you trust Him through a difficult season? What If It Didn't Start With You? | Breaking Generational Patterns

What if the battle you're fighting didn't start with you? Sometimes the most important question isn't "Why is this happening to me?" It's "Why does this keep happening in our family?" The same illnesses. The same broken relationships. The same addictions. The same violence. The same financial struggles. The same patterns, showing up in different people, in different generations. In the latest episode of Becoming Sessions, Joanne and I take on a subject people often switch off from: generational curses. So we went deeper. In this conversation we cover: 🔹 What the Bible actually says about curses, blessings and iniquity 🔹 How to recognize recurring patterns in your family line 🔹 The doors that astrology, witchcraft and the occult can open 🔹 The role of repentance, forgiveness and confession 🔹 What Jesus accomplished at the cross, and why it changes the story 🔹 Practical steps toward healing, deliverance and freedom This isn't about living in fear of your family history. It's about recognition, repentance and the authority we have in Jesus Christ. Sometimes you have to become a spiritual detective. Look at the patterns. Ask the hard questions. Understand what Scripture says. Then decide: It may have come through my family, but it doesn't have to continue through me. 🎙️ New episode of Becoming Sessions What If It Didn't Start With You? | Breaking Generational Patterns Joanne Marime & James Marime I'd love to hear from you: have you seen a pattern repeat across generations in a family that made you wonder where it began?

The Spirit Behind Family Conflict: Anger, Offense, Unforgiveness & Spiritual Warfare

What if some of the conflict happening within our families is deeper than the words being spoken? In this episode of Becoming Sessions, Joanne and James Marime explore the spiritual battle behind family conflict—anger, offense, unforgiveness, pride, division, and the thoughts that can quietly turn people who love one another against each other. Scripture reminds us that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood” (Ephesians 6:12). Yet when conflict comes, it is often the person in front of us that we begin fighting. How do we recognize when anger is gaining a foothold? How do thoughts become strongholds? How does offense grow into unforgiveness? And how can prayer, Scripture, humility, forgiveness, and the Holy Spirit help restore relationships that seem broken? In this conversation, we explore the battlefield of the mind, Jesus' example in confronting temptation, the importance of taking thoughts captive, and the spiritual weapons God has given believers to confront division. We also talk practically about forgiveness—not as pretending that hurt never happened, but as refusing to allow that hurt to control our hearts and relationships. Above all, this episode is a call to remember who the real enemy is. Your spouse is not the enemy. Your sibling is not the enemy. Your parent is not the enemy. Your child is not the enemy. Sometimes victory begins when we stop fighting each other and start recognizing the battle behind the battle.
