Everyone Uses Their Gifts: Making Room for the Whole Body

In this episode, We Are Church elders Tim, Sean, and Rob dive into the fourth practice of We Are Church, "everyone uses their gifts," starting with where the conviction comes from in 1 Corinthians 12 and 14 and Ephesians 4. They talk honestly about how leaders lose the expectation that the Holy Spirit will work through others, why a participatory gathering isn't the same as everyone using their gifts, and how to spot, name, and call out gifts in the people they shepherd. They share stories of people stepping into teaching, preaching, and prayer, plus the pitfalls: gifts that feed self-ambition, and leaders who drift toward doing everything themselves. If you're leading a simple church and want to make room for the whole body, this conversation is for you.

Discipleship in Practice: Three Challenges Every Leader Faces

In this episode, We Are Church elders Tim, Rob, and Sean dive into the practice of "everyone discipled and discipling" — exploring three of the biggest challenges leaders face: busyness, the tendency to drift, and the idol of comfort. They share honest stories from their own churches about meeting people where they're at, building a discipleship culture from scratch, having hard conversations, and why prayer is the foundation that holds it all together. If you're leading a simple church and wrestling with how to keep discipleship real and consistent, this conversation is for you.
