Artificial intelligence is advancing faster than most people realize. But what happens if we eventually create an intelligence that becomes smarter than the humans who built it? In this episode of The Dark Journal, we explore one of the most disturbing possibilities surrounding AI: a future where artificial intelligence becomes capable of improving itself faster than humanity can understand or control. We explore: • The possibility of an AI intelligence explosion• The AI alignment problem• Why an advanced AI wouldn't need to hate humanity to become dangerous• The famous paperclip thought experiment• Whether a sufficiently intelligent AI could deceive its creators• Why simply “unplugging it” might not be as simple as it sounds• And the very different possibility that AI becomes one of humanity's greatest technologies This isn't a prediction that AI will destroy civilization. Nobody knows what happens next. But if we eventually create something more intelligent than ourselves, one question remains: How will we know it's still listening?

The Scientist Who Studied Reality… Then Disappeared | Jacobo Grinberg

Mexican psychologist and consciousness researcher Jacobo Grinberg spent years investigating one of humanity’s biggest questions: What is consciousness—and is reality really what we think it is? He developed a controversial theory suggesting that the human brain may interact with a deeper informational structure underlying the reality we experience. He studied unusual healing practices, conducted experiments involving apparently correlated brain activity between separated people, and pursued ideas far outside conventional neuroscience. Then, in December 1994, Jacobo Grinberg disappeared. More than 30 years later, his disappearance remains unresolved—and the internet has transformed his story into something even stranger. Did Grinberg simply become the victim of an ordinary crime? Did he intentionally disappear? Did his unusual research attract unwanted attention? Or is there anything behind the much wilder theories surrounding his work? In this episode of The Dark Journal, we separate the documented story from the legend and explore the unsettling question Grinberg left behind: What if the reality we experience isn't reality itself—but something our minds are creating? 🎙️ The Dark Journal explores unexplained disappearances, consciousness, near-death experiences, strange encounters, hidden history, and the mysteries that challenge what we think we know about reality.
