Two former teachers from Wayground talk edtech, education, and everything in between: plus real stories from the districts and schools actually using this stuff in their classrooms. Every week, Justin and Jess dig into what's really happening in education: the hype, the flops, the stuff that actually works. Or they sit down with a district or school doing something cool and ask how it actually went, no highlight reel required. No decks or sales pitches. Just two former teachers who think about education way too much. So meet us "On the Wayground."

Ep 4: Little Learners, Smart Tech, & Big Wins w/Ben Cogswell

Can a kid who's still sounding out words crush it with classroom tech? Ben Cogswell says yes. Justin and Jess hang out with the Salinas, CA 4th grade teacher to talk about making tech work for every reader and keeping formative assessments fun instead of dreaded. Ben also explains why AI is a teacher's sidekick, not their replacement, and how it gives him time back for what matters most. Stick around for his best advice for teachers just getting started! Ep 3: How to Implement Tech & Make it Stick w/Valerie Summerlot

What does it actually take to keep a school district's technology running, and running well? Valerie Summerlot, Director of Technology at Indianapolis Public Schools joins Justin to pull back the curtain. We talk about managing a growing tech stack without overwhelming teachers, why common assessments are becoming a priority for districts, and how to bring curriculum, tech, and classroom teams to the same table. Valerie also walks through her district's recent rollout, including how they helped it run smoothly along with lessons she'd share with any district taking on the same work. Whether you're a tech director, curriculum lead, or school leader, this episode is packed with practical ideas you can borrow for your own district! Ep 2: What Nobody Tells You About School Budgets w/Seth Rau

Seth Rau (from GovTech Partners) has spent years untangling how education dollars actually move: across states, across school boards, across the gap between "we have the funding" and "we bought this." He joins us to talk about the hidden funding sources most administrators never think to check, how much control (or how little) your local school board actually has over funding, and the one budget myth he wishes would finally go away. Learn about educational funding, budgets and more by reaching out to the folks at GovTech Partners by heading to their website - https://www.govtechpartners.com or contact Seth by emailing him at seth@govtechpartners.com.

Ep. 1: Making Tech, AI, and Special Education Play Nice w/Josh Morris

Twelve years as a former special education teacher taught Josh Morris exactly where technology can help students succeed...and exactly where it just adds another button to click. Now as a technology coach, he's continuing the journey of assisting students as best he can! The Bradley County Schools teacher and former graduate (along with being the host of The Tech Flush Podcast) joins us to talk about real classroom friction, meeting wildly different academic needs with the same toolkit, and where AI earns its keep versus where it's just fancy busywork for teachers. Check out ALL of the amazing work that is being done in Bradley County Schools (including Josh's podcast The Tech Flush) at www.bcstechnology.org.
