#145 The Sixth Sense (1999) | Dead People Need Better Boundaries | RVR11

On Episode 11, we’re revisiting the #145 ranked THE SIXTH SENSE (1999), written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring Bruce Willis, Haley Joel Osment, Toni Collette and Olivia Williams. A child psychologist starts working with a kid who claims he can see dead people. The problem is, the dead people apparently have no concept of personal space. What starts as trying to help a terrified kid quickly becomes something much bigger, and probably ruined the phrase “I see dead people” for an entire generation. The question: Once you already know what The Sixth Sense is famous for, does the movie still work just as well without the surprise? Writer & Director: M. RVR Halloween 09: Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) | You’re Getting Canceled, Bro

On our last episode of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Halloween Series --- we’re on #9 in the franchise, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (2022), directed by David Blue Garcia and starring Sarah Yarkin, Elsie Fisher, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford and Olwen Fouéré. TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE brings Leatherface back after 50 years, as spry as ever dropping him into a town full of influencers trying to buy up Texas. It gives us a guy threatening to cancel a chainsaw wielding murderer on livestream. At that point Leatherface didn’t even need the saw, the movie had already killed subtlety. The weekly question: Is Texas Chainsaw Massacre a fun, mean little sequel that knows exactly how stupid modern culture can be, or another franchise reset using the original movie as life support? Director: David Blue Garcia Writers: Chris Thomas Devlin, Fede Álvarez & Rodo Sayagues Starring: Sarah Yarkin, Elsie Fisher, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford & Olwen Fouéré Released: 2022 Runtime: 1h 23m Genre: Horror/Slasher Streaming: https://www.netflix.com/title/81483977 Available to Purchase/Rent: n/a Want to see our final TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE SCORECARDS? It's about a rat that wants to become a chef and a boy that can't boil water, yet somehow Pixar turned that into a movie about talent, criticism, creativity, ambition and what happens when somebody decides you don’t belong before you’ve even had a chance to prove yourself. The question: Is Ratatouille one of Pixar’s best movies, or have we all just been seduced by animated French food? Writer & Director: Brad Bird Story: Jan Pinkava, Jim Capobianco & Brad Bird Starring: Patton Oswalt, Ian Holm, Lou Romano, Janeane Garofalo, Peter O’Toole & Brad Garrett Released: 2007 Runtime: 1h 51m Genre: Animation/Comedy/Adventure Streaming: https://www.disneyplus.com/play/ab7c4e29-04f1-46dd-931a-d43be1ce0f8c?distributionPartner=google Rent or Buy: https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/amzn1.dv.gti.50b83f8e-d205-5090-6ae3-2db1bf13ed5a?ref_=atv_cf_strg_wb Availability varies by region and can change. RVR Halloween 08: Leatherface (2017) | How Somebody Read This Script and Said Yes Is Beyond Me

This week we’re on LEATHERFACE (2017), directed by Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury and starring Stephen Dorff, Lili Taylor, Vanessa Grasse and Sam Strike. LEATHERFACE wants to give us another origin story, except this time the mystery is supposed to be which one of these lunatics becomes Leatherface. Instead we got a road movie full of people we didn’t care about, a twist we didn’t need, and a sex scene on top of a dead body that needed a cuck timeout. There are bad movies, then there are movies that make you resent the electricity used to play them. The weekly question: Is Leatherface misunderstood, or is this the point where the franchise should have been legally required to take a few years off? Director: Alexandre Bustillo & Julien Maury Writer: Seth M. Sherwood Starring: Stephen Dorff, Lili Taylor, Vanessa Grasse & Sam Strike Released: 2017 Runtime: 1h 30m Genre: Horror / Slasher Streaming: https://www.peacocktv.com/watch-online/movies/leatherface/a54ff8f7-b0bd-3e95-acd6-754690ddf73b?cid=2601 Available to Purchase/Rent: https://play.google.com/store/movies/details?id=QgBst5nuPEw Want to see our final LEATHERFACE SCORECARDS? In TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D Heather inherits a house, a f****d up family tree and one cousin with a chainsaw living in his moms basement (just like you m***********s). Then she finds out Leatherface is family and the movie goes full Vin Diesel.. blood first, common sense later. Do ur thing cuz” might be one of the best lines in horror history, word to Paul Walker. The weekly question: Is Texas Chainsaw 3D a fun swing at turning Leatherface into the guy we’re rooting for, or did the movie completely lose its mind trying to make family loyalty the excuse? RVR Halloween 06: Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006) | Leatherface NEEDED an Origin Story

Today we’re on THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING (2006), directed by Jonathan Liebesman and starring Jordana Brewster, Taylor Handley, Diora Baird, Matt Bomer and R. Lee Ermey. THE BEGINNING had no business being this good. We already know where all of this is going, and it still feels nasty the whole way there. R. Lee Ermey is out of his f*****g mind, Leatherface is mean as hell, and the whole movie feels like everybody involved wanted to make sure 2003 looked like the nice version. The weekly question: Is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning a solid expansion of the 2003 remake, or proof that some family history is better left buried?
