An AI Agent Inside the Pentagon

A defense contractor reportedly gave a personal AI coding agent admin access to a sensitive Pentagon system, and nobody noticed for two months. Here’s the AI news from October 29, 2026: • WIRED reports that an Accenture contractor connected a personal Claude Code agent to a Department of Defense production system. The agent may have sent passwords and network details to an outside website. Accenture says the allegations are without merit. • Mistral releases the weights of Large 4, a trillion-parameter open model with a 1 million token context window that is strong at finding and patching security flaws • Serval raises $150M at a $3B valuation to replace old IT workflow software with AI agents • OpenAI-backed Thrive Holdings agrees to buy ADT in a $15.3B deal and plans to run it with AI • Microsoft prepares a bond sale of about $25B to fund AI infrastructure • Google’s TPU sales boost cloud revenue but put pressure on its cash flow • Hugging Face launches Project ProtoStar to make public research data easier for AI to use • A Washington Post investigation asks why AI leaders who called for slowing down kept speeding up The takeaway: Never give an AI agent more access than its task needs. Use limited, short-lived credentials and control what it can connect to, and keep a human approval step before anything goes live. Hosted by the founder of PlsAutomate. We build AI agents with limited access, controlled connections and a full log of every action, so they never get the keys to everything. plsautomate.com

    SAP Fired Its Expensive AI

SAP is swapping expensive AI models for cheaper ones wherever they get the job done, and it expects big savings. Here’s the AI news from October 28, 2026: • SAP runs more than 70 AI models and now picks the cheapest one that does each task well enough. It is targeting more than €2B in efficiency gains. • Google launches Gemini 4 Carbon, built for long coding jobs and cybersecurity. For now, only selected security defenders can use it. • GitHub launches Copilot Fusion, which routes each task to the right model. GitHub reports it costs about half as much as a top single-model agent. • GitHub Agentic Workflows is now generally available. It runs AI agents inside GitHub Actions. • GitHub’s Octoverse report says agents started over 40% of pull requests in September • NVIDIA releases Nemotron 3.5 Transcribe, an open speech model that transcribes, translates and tells speakers apart • Google Cloud revenue doubles and Azure grows 48% • China moves to restrict exports of its most advanced AI technology • OpenAI reportedly plans to buy Google’s TPU chips • Upwind raises $400M for cloud and AI security The takeaway: You don’t need the most expensive model for every task. Match each step to the cheapest model that does it reliably and you can cut costs without losing quality. Hosted by the founder of PlsAutomate. We match each step of your workflow to the right model, so you get reliable results without overpaying. plsautomate.com

Trump Wants to Ban the Word “AI”

Trump wants to replace the term “AI” with “super intelligence”. The name may change, but the work stays the same. Here’s the AI news from October 27, 2026: • Trump says he wants to drop “artificial intelligence” from official documents and use “super intelligence” instead • Ai2 finds that AI judges of scientific novelty can swing more than 50 points in accuracy when a few words in the prompt change • Google DeepMind unveils Genie 4, which generates interactive worlds with sound that you can change as you go • Liquid AI releases LFM3, open models small enough to run locally. The 1.7B text model handles 256K tokens and agent tasks. • Oracle and OpenAI bring ChatGPT and Codex into Oracle apps and launch a free-to-start AI bundle for small businesses • Oracle Cloud will offer Google TPUs, NVIDIA Vera Rubin and Cerebras chips • GitHub Copilot now lets automated services sign in as the organization instead of a person • NVIDIA invests $3B in Meta • Machenta raises $40M for robots that learn a task from a single demonstration The takeaway: Call it AI or SI, the label doesn’t change the results. What matters is whether it saves time and money in your business, and that small changes, even a few words in a prompt, can break it if you don’t test. Hosted by the founder of PlsAutomate. We skip the buzzwords and build AI automations that are tested on real cases and deliver measurable results. plsautomate.com
