God Helps Us Fight What We Cannot See

What if the greatest danger we face is one we cannot see? In Numbers 22, we are taken into a story that pulls back the curtain on an invisible war being waged against God's people. While Israel rested peacefully in Moab, a king named Balak was secretly consulting a sorcerer named Balaam, paying a high price to unleash a spiritual curse against them. The people had no idea. And that is precisely the point. Ignorance is one of Satan's greatest assets. This message challenges us to take seriously what we so often dismiss as mythology or ancient superstition. The enemy is real, he is organized, and he has strategies tailored specifically to our weaknesses. But here is where the story turns glorious: no scheme, no curse, no dark power could override what God had already declared over his people. Balaam, for all his fame and influence, could not move outside the boundaries of God's sovereignty. That same truth belongs to us. We are not left defenseless in this unseen war. We are called to pray, to resist, to draw near, and to submit, and in doing so, we position ourselves to experience the full protection of a God who has already crushed the head of the enemy. This is not a message of fear. It is a message of informed, eyes-open confidence in a living God who reigns.

    Be Alert | Numbers 22:1-12

What happens when the enemy cannot defeat us head-on? He adapts. That is the sobering and clarifying message drawn from Numbers 22, where we encounter the story of Balak and Balaam. As God's people settled opposite Jericho, fresh off back-to-back military victories, a neighboring king looked across the border and felt something crumble inside him. Not just fear, but a deep, body-level dread. And rather than face Israel in battle, he reached for a different weapon entirely: a hired voice, a prophet for profit, a man named Balaam whose lips could invoke the name of God without his heart ever belonging to Him. The spiritual lesson here cuts close to home. The enemy of our souls is not a one-trick adversary. He studies us, pivots, and returns with a new angle. When brute opposition fails, he sends voices. Smooth ones. Convincing ones. Ones that even quote scripture. This passage calls us to sharpen our discernment, to test what we hear against the full counsel of God's Word, and to recognize that not every voice speaking the name of the Lord is speaking on His behalf. We are invited to ask ourselves an honest question: are we more alert to the threats we can see, or to the subtle ones dressed in religious language? This is a message that challenges us to grow in wisdom, not just in zeal.

God Fights For Us | Numbers 21:21-35

What do we do when a battle finds us before we ever went looking for it? In Numbers 21, we find the people of God simply trying to pass through foreign territory in peace -- no conflict desired, no fight sought. Yet an enemy comes out to meet them anyway. This passage opens up one of the most personally relevant truths in all of Scripture: God is not just our guide and our provider, he is our warrior. He fights for us. The message drawn from this ancient military account challenges us to examine how we respond when life ambushes us with fear and conflict we never asked for. Three powerful responses emerge from the text -- fighting our fears into submission, feeding our faith until peace arrives, and following the Father until every stronghold falls. These are not passive postures. They are active, deliberate choices rooted in the conviction that the victory already belongs to God. The battle in Numbers 21 was not one the Israelites chose, yet God had something waiting for them on the other side of it -- land, inheritance, and an expanded trust in him. The same is true for us. What we stand to gain through Spirit-empowered obedience in our hardest moments is far greater than what we risk by stepping into the fight.
