The Little Girl Who Found Her Voice

Send us Fan Mail What happens when you get diagnosed with ADHD at 46 and start looking back at the little girl you used to be? Well, apparently, she's been trying to tell you something for DECADES! In this episode of Where Are My Keys?, I'm taking a trip back to my childhood, when I was a shy, daydreaming, doodling little girl who never quite felt like she fit in, but somehow had PLENTY to say. And sing. We're talking about childhood experiences that make a whole lot more sense through the lens of a late ADHD diagnosis, the people who helped me recognize my gifts, and the creativity that's been part of me for as long as I can remember. And yes, there's a story involving Madonna, Barbie dolls, and a highly questionable homemade lotion. PLEASE. Don't ask.  But underneath the laughter, there's something deeper: learning to look back at your life with curiosity instead of judgment, recognizing God's hand in your journey, and discovering that finding your voice might be about more than simply being heard. In this episode, we're getting into: Growing up shy, chatty, creative, and never quite fitting inThe childhood ADHD signs I recognize now that I didn't understand thenWhy being seen and feeling accepted aren't always the same thingDaydreaming, reading for hours, and sensory overstimulationThe teachers who recognized something special in meFaith, gratitude, and the wisdom behind two little words: Keep livingWhy I believe sharing our stories can help us rediscover ourselvesYour Turn, BRAINHIVE! When you look back at your childhood, what's something you recognize differently now? Maybe it's a behavior, a struggle, a creative passion, or something you always thought was just a personality quirk. What makes you look back and say, "WAIT…you mean I've been like this since I was a KID?!" Don't leave ya girl out here hangin' like a loose thread! Email me at hello@wherearemykeyspod.com. The ADHD Tax: A $2000 Trip to Goodwill

Send us Fan Mail ON. WHAT. PHONE?! What happens when a quick trip to Goodwill turns into a nearly $2,000 financial nightmare? Well, if your name is Vik VarWoo, apparently you get a stolen iPhone, a crash course in two-factor authentication, and a front-row seat to the absolute foolishness that is customer service. All I wanted was a little mother-daughter shopping time and some thrifted treasures for an interior design project. Instead, I spent the better part of a day trying to replace my phone, access my bank accounts, and convince approximately 50-leven security systems that I AM, IN FACT, VIK VARWOO. And somewhere along the way, Sunshine's LANDLINE became the unexpected hero of the entire ordeal. In this episode of Where Are My Keys?, we're talking about the ADHD tax — those extra financial, emotional, and time-related costs that can come with living with an ADHD brain. We're getting into: The Goodwill trip that went spectacularly LEFTThe two-factor authentication circle of HELLAgent 404, Agent Rewind, and the customer service chroniclesLate fees, lost items, forgotten groceries, and other ADHD taxesThe emotional cost of losing time, money, and peace of mindHow backups, safeguards, and a little preparation can save your beautifully wired brainPlus, meet Miss Briana, Quita, the Very Mindful, Very Demure Klarna Lady, and Sunshine — the unexpected supporting cast who helped me survive this entire mess. Because sometimes the ADHD tax isn't what you forgot. It's what it costs you to recover. Grab your keys, secure your phone, and come on into the Brainhive. Fair warning: There's a WHOLE LOT of grown-up language in this one. You've been warned! Join the Brainhive! Have you ever paid a ridiculous ADHD tax? Tell me about it! I'd love to hear your stories. Just a woman [of a certain age] sharing her experiences with late-diagnosed ADHD, doing some research, and figuring things out along the way.
