    5. Needle Drops with Fiona Johnston

In this episode we discuss our top 3 "needle drop" moments in films. Our guest is Fi Johnston, friend of the pod and local film lover. The dry definition of a needle drop is: an industry term for when a pre-existing, licensed, or popular song is played during a scene in a film, instead of an original and/or instrumental score. These moments evoke many feelings, as discussed in the pod. What is your top needle drop moment? Links to tracks mentioned below (best appreciated in the context of the movie moments!). Note some of these videos contain film spoilers. 1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_dkTtVDizo 2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKQIGvULZCI 3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WufKsOhkTL8 4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12ka_ZWRdqA 5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpvOUnz4T7Q 6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ip9PgKmil0s 7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFY9ace2t4s 8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raEbrKPBoyQ 9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=426LibmHSWw 10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3RFhIca_fU

    4. Party Songs with Raymond Phan (Part Two)

Don't look back in anger, I heard you say. In part two, come with us to kick-ons - a metaphoric (and kinda literal) drunken deep and meangingful about partying in your 30s and the growing pains of moving on to the next phase of your life. We’re sitting around the emblematic glass table in the backyard, telling stories about our glory years, and having an existential crisis about being left behind.  What goes up must come down and we get deep/ spiral into about when it’s time to leave the party. But we finish the night on a high with some big Australian icons and Ray's life songs. THANK YOU!

    3. Party Songs with Raymond Phan (Part One)

One more shot, another round?  Ep 3: Party Songs (Part One) In our first episode with a guest, Raymond Phan, aka “Good Time Ray” joins us to deep our biggest party songs! What DOES make a good party song when you really think about it? We keep coming back to the light and shade - a moment of peace before the drop.  So we’re starting at pre-drinks/ getting ready and what songs do we have on that get us pumped up?? We’re talking everyone from Beyonce to Uffie to Bag Raiders. Once we’ve arrived, we’re standing around the kitchen, gathered around the drinks table and we’re deep in pop territory. Even when we want to be snobs, we absolutely cannot ignore the cultural impact of Ke$ha, Pitbull and Don’t Cha, and the Stock Exchange dance floor in 2009.  THEN as soon as it all began, it’s time to go home - or is it time to kick on?

    1. Michelle Branch and Tubthumping

Ep 1: Michelle Branch and Tubthumping. Welcome to Truly, Madly, Deeping It, a nostalgic Brisbane-based podcast about music and the deep feelings it invokes.  We want to remember how it felt to be lying on the floor in front of your parents’ sound system listening to Michelle Branch and Tubthumping for the first time. [Pls forgive our singing, high pitched giggling and audio issues, particularly towards the end, as we are merely passionate experts, but not production experts] 🪊 “ I thought the music mattered! But does it? Bollocks. Not compared to how people matter.” We go deep, remembering how Michelle Branch’s first album made us feel back in the day. Then we try to distill an extensive deep dive of anarcho-punks, Chumbawumba, of “Tubthumping” fame into a brief summary about a band we thought were one hit wonders. Tell us how it made you feel 🙌 at @trulymadlydeepingitpod See "In this episode" below for the playlist of all songs mentioned in the episode.
