The Things We Make is a podcast about technology and everything that comes with it. Each topic unfolds across two episodes. The first takes you into an imaginary world through an original sci-fi story I’ve written, brought to life by an AI voice. In the second, you’ll hear from me as we explore the real science and ethical questions behind it. Occasionally, I’ll also interview professors to hear their perspectives. We’ll explore what technology makes possible, whom it serves, and what we might overlook along the way.

    Elsewhere: Algorithms

In this companion episode to Elsewhere: Just One More, we’ll explore how recommendation algorithms learn from our behavior and choose what we see next. From personalized concerts to endless zombie waves, we revisit the story from the last episode to unpack the technology behind “just one more.” Along the way, we’ll also be asking whether keeping us engaged also means helping us spend our time well.

  2. Oct 9

    Elsewhere: Just One More

Twenty minutes in Elsewhere. Then he’ll study. That’s the plan, anyway. But Elsewhere is learning what keeps him there—and it has something even better waiting. In this story episode of The Things We Make, temptation gets personal. Next episode, we’ll explore recommendation algorithms and the ethics of designing for attention.
