FAMEHUNGRY: The Podcast
FAMEHUNGRY: The Podcast is a funny, candid, slightly dangerous investigation into fame, power and the economics of being seen. Hosted by cult UK performance artist Louise Orwin, it asks what it really takes to 'make it': who gets noticed, who gets paid, and who decides. Through conversations with artists, comedians, critics and cultural figures, the podcast digs into ambition, money, gatekeeping, jealousy, failure and artistic survival. What’s the worth of what we do as artists - and, through he perks and perils of it all... is it worth it? ... The podcast sits alongside FAMEHUNGRY, Louise Orwin's award-winning live performance project, which began as something closer to a existential crisis than a show concept. In her mid-thirties, watching an arts practice she'd spent fifteen years building start to feel structurally unsustainable, she found herself asking a question that felt both embarrassingly personal and quietly systemic: what does it mean to be an artist inside an economy that no longer rewards the work itself, but the visibility around it? How does all this change us, the culture we live in, the art we make and consume, and maybe more importantly, the way we think about ourselves and each other? The podcast extends that same enquiry outward: an ongoing, occasionally chaotic study of visibility, value and who gets to hold power in contemporary culture, but this time bringing other people on the journey with her. Same experiment, new format baby. You can find out more about FAMEHUNGRY here.
