The system does not require continuous possession of every mind. It requires only the reliable ability to shape the emotional and conceptual environment in which decisions are made, then to select and trigger specific actors at decisive moments. That environment is not produced primarily by black-site laboratories or classified electromagnetic weapons. It is produced, day after day, by the cultural soft machine — the interlocking complex of mainstream media, music, entertainment, and institutional religion. These domains do not merely reflect reality. They pre-load the categories through which reality is interpreted, and they do so with a consistency that exceeds coincidence.
