Ep 2: Wisconsin vs Southern Indiana Culture Shock - Part 1

Get In Touch A cheeseburger should not require a financial negotiation, and yet somehow outside Wisconsin you can end up paying extra for the most implied ingredient on the planet: cheese. That tiny moment kicks off a bigger conversation about how two people can both claim “Midwest roots” and still experience real culture shock after getting married across state lines. We’re talking Wisconsin vs Southern Indiana, where ranch dressing is practically a food group and “nice” comes in a totally different form.  We trade stories from Madison-area suburb life and from Harrison County, where Southern Indiana feels more like Kentuckiana than Chicago-adjacent Midwest. The differences show up everywhere: how strangers act in public, whether people honk, how much hugging is normal, and even what happens when your phone loses service in the hills. Then we go deep on the fun stuff, like why Culver’s feels like a Wisconsin landmark, what makes a supper club a supper club, and why ordering the “wrong” old fashioned can get you side-eyed.  Sports and hometown pride round it out, from the Green Bay Packers as a way of life (yes, fan shareholders) to the history-rich square in Corydon and the local words you don’t realize are regional until you marry into them. If you love Midwest culture, regional food debates, small-town life, and the way language gives away where you’re from, this one’s for you. Subscribe, share with a friend who argues about ranch or cheese, and leave us a review with the most “home” thing about your hometown.

Ep 1: Meet Tyler And Callie And Why They Hit Record

Get In Touch A bad first impression can turn into a great story, and ours starts with a rainy move-in day, an awkward handshake, and a box handed straight out of a trunk. We’re Tyler and Callie, husband and wife with two boys, a life shaped by faith and ministry, and just enough humor to admit we’re probably weirder than you think. You’ll get to know us fast through the questions couples usually answer off-mic: what people assume about us that’s completely wrong, what we’re weirdly passionate about, and what our everyday marriage dynamics actually look like. We talk golf obsession, Apple product devotion, and how “professional in public” can still mean “full goofball at home.” Then we tell the real “how we met” timeline, including the semester where Callie basically ignored Tyler and the date plan that somehow worked anyway. We also share why we’re launching a couple podcast now. We don’t have it all figured out, and we’re not trying to perform perfect marriage advice. We want a place to process real life in real time: marriage, parenting, faith, work, money, and the stuff happening in the world, plus conversations with guests who are cooler than us and smarter than us. If you like honest relationship conversations, a practical parenting podcast vibe, and a little playful arguing along the way, hit subscribe, share this pilot with a friend, and leave a review. Best We Can Tell - Trailer

Get In Touch Two normal people do not wake up one day and feel “ready” for marriage, parenting, careers, dogs, schedules, and the steady hum of responsibility. We’re Tyler and Callie, we’ve been married for seven years, we’re raising two boys, and we finally admitted something out loud: we learn the most when we stop pretending we have clean answers and start talking like real humans. So we bought microphones and hit record, even though Callie was absolutely the most hesitant person in the room. “Best We Can Tell” is our way of naming what we’re trying to build: honest conversation without expert cosplay. We’re not here to hand out advice or tell you how to live. We’re here to share what life looks like from where we’re sitting right now, while we’re still in the middle of it. That means we’ll talk about marriage, parenting, faith, work, family dynamics, culture, money, and the daily stuff that shapes a home. We also know we often land in different places, and we think that’s where the good conversations start. You’ll hear stories from our background too, like Callie growing up in Wisconsin, meeting Tyler at seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky, and the ongoing comedy of carrying the last name “Best” everywhere, including on an Army uniform. And yes, we’ll admit when we’ve changed our minds, like the classic parenting vow that “our kids will never have screens,” followed by real-life boundaries, movies, and a Nintendo Switch. If you’re looking for a relatable marriage podcast, a parenting podcast that allows nuance, or a millennial couple podcast that keeps it honest, subscribe now, share this with a friend who’s in the messy middle, and leave a review so more people can find us. What do you want us to talk about next?
