    Kabila’s FRN Is Just M23 With a New Name and Rwanda Has Finally Been Sanctioned

    Joseph Kabila now heads a new movement called the FRN, the Front pour la Refondation de la Nation, and the AFC/M23 rebels are inside it, with Corneille Nangaa as one of his deputies. The name has changed, but the guns, the territory and the backers have not. Days after the launch in Goma, the United States sanctioned Rwanda’s Ministry of Defence and Zigama, a Rwandan savings bank accused of moving money and Congolese gold for the army and M23. Kabila himself has been under US sanctions since April. So who is really running this war, and who profits from it?
