This month, I’m sharing what I know so far from my experiences on how to connect with your spirit guides. I’m an intuitive Akashic Records reader who helps you to know who you truly are at the soul level. Creating this connection opens you to your intuition and more. Spirit Guides are Souls, just like us So let’s get started. When I talk about connecting with spirit guides, I’m referring to other souls just like you and me. There are, of course, other types of guides. I’ll begin with the guides that we have also been ourselves to other incarnated people in other lives. The main guides that we experience when we are incarnated. These are called our innercircleguides. To keep me on track and to help you with context when we delve into big spiritual subjects like spirit guides, for example, I review the chosen subject through my SHINE model. SHINE S is for soul level information, H for our human design chart, I for our intuition, our higher self, N for NLP, neuro-linguistic programming, and language work, and E for energetics, which covers everything else in between, from chakras to electromagnetic fields. Soul-Level Information About Spirit Guide Connection So let’s get into spirit guides, starting with understanding them with the S in Shine, Soul Level Information. There are many types of guides, loved ones, teacher guides, ascended masters – even star beings. But let’s start with the basics, your inner circle guides, who are your personal spiritual guides, who have been with you for a large part of your life. Our inner circle spirit guides are souls currently not incarnated. We are incarnated, and in the body, so we can speak the human language. Inner circle guides have lived on Earth before, but currently don’t have a body, so we need to connect with them through the language of energy. We exist in the third dimension, they exist in the fifth dimension, and we communicate by bridging the gap in between, the fourth dimension. So how do we bridge this gap through the fourth dimension to connect with our inner circle spirit guides from where we are in 3D to their location in 5D? The energy of the records is part of the energetic system of incarnation. We all have a soul blueprint, which is like our cloud or URL of the soul. When we learn about our own soul group and divine soul blueprint, we’re making our first connection between 3D and 5D. Once we do that, we can begin to relate to our inner circle spirit guides because they also have a soul group and a divine soul blueprint, maybe even have incarnated with us before. Once people have begun to connect with their guides, it’s possible for me to intuit how many inner circle guides you have and the best ways to connect with them. Most people have between four to six spirit guides in their inner circle. Once you’ve worked on your own Akashic records a little bit, you will begin to bridge that gap between the third and fifth dimension, because you are repeatedly doing so. It’s like building a muscle. Then you’re making connections with your inner circle spirit guides. Of course, you are in a body, and your inner circle guides aren’t. But during a spirit guide reading, I can connect you with them through the energetic information relating to their divine soul blueprint and soul groups, and also share their names and other characteristics with you. It’s like making an introduction to a new friend at a dinner party. I also channel pictures of them so that you can use them to reconnect with your guides later. People find the pictures very powerful. 4-6 Inner Circle Guides – The First Spirit Guide Connection As I mentioned before, most people have between four to six inner circle guides. The first guide is your guardian guide who has been with you since birth. The others join in throughout your younger life. Begin to think of them as other people, just like you, with life experiences and stories to share. Often, people recognize their inner circle guides from intuitive experiences they have had in the past or even a familiar feeling of connection. It’s very validating. So how do we stay connected with our inner circle guides after we’ve made contact? It’s a lot like other types of friendships, really. Make a habit of chatting with your guides, connecting with them, thinking about them, and sharing information. Staying Connected One reason people don’t maintain successful connections with their guides is because they don’t repeat the process of connection. Another is that they only think of guide connection when they’re having a hard time. Imagine how a friend would feel if you did that all the time. To get firmly connected, you can also chat regularly with your guides, write to them in a journal, and even communicate through things like tarot cards. Once you start connecting regularly, you’ll start getting more regular messages back, either as words in your mind, energy in your body, or sometimes signs in your environment. Before we move on to the H for Human Design in Shine, also begin to think of your inner circle guides as guides who have chosen to help you without incurring karma for themselves or for you. So they don’t tell you what to do next or reveal information – which as a soul you need to learn on your journey because that would be karmic. They are here to guide. That’s why they’re called guides. You get to choose what to do next through your own free will. H – Your Guides and Human Design Let’s move on to the H in Shine, and the concept of spirit guides through mind and body communication through our human design chart. When guides connect with you, remember they are reaching down from 5D, and you are reaching up from 3D and connecting through your mind, the mental body, emotions, how you feel, even your chakras – and the electromagnetic field that you generate in 4D that surrounds your body. Edgar Cayce, a well-known Akashic reader, used to call 4D therealmofideas. Sometimes people’s guides will say to me that they are connecting to a client through a specific chakra or even a human design gate. When I explain the physical sensations, thoughts or emotional reactions that a guide impulsesor sends to a client, people can really identify with it. And realize that they’ve been accessing and working with their guides all along. Through Human Design, the gate is also imprinted by the energy of a planet and astrological sign. So this can also help a client understand the nature or flavor of messages they may already be getting from a guide. This can be very validating. Spirit Guide Connection and I for Intuition, or the Higher Self Now, let’s consider the concept of spirit guides and intuition. To me, intuition is an aspect of our higher self, that connection we have between our own soul and our body. That’s one of the primary ways that aha moments or downloads come in, often through our crown chakras at the top of the head. When it comes to spirit guides, they might be directing a download for you to unpack through your higher self, the crown chakra, which also connects to the soul star or eighth chakra above the head. Or they could be talking to you, and you hear a message in your left ear, either in your own voice, called the Third Language, or their voice, directing you through synchronicity, through a sign, symbol, or something you notice that is unusual. If you are strong in a particular clair, such as clairaudience, you’ll likely hear more words, or through clairvoyance, you’ll receive more visions. NLP, Language Work and your Guides Language work and NLP, or Neuro Linguistic Programming, is all about getting really clear and conscious with the language we use or the magic of spelling. When you connect with your inner circle spirit guides, you might like to try experimenting with words and synchronicity, especially if you have a guide with the divine energy center of communication, for example. If you’re beginning your spirit guide journey, then of course you might stumble up against beliefs or ideas that prevent you making a clear connection with your guides. This is only natural. The Records hold information about your soul and the energetic patterns that help you understand your life more deeply. In this podcast, I look at life lessons through 5 different frames or layers of awareness, creating an acronym I call SHINE. S is for Soul Level Awareness, the Akashic Records, and Past Lives. H is for Human Design. I is for Intuition. N is for Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Language Work. E is for Energetics, anything to do with your energy. Put them all together, and you have a way to shine. What Are Life Lessons? First of all, to work at the Soul level of Shine, let’s set a definition for life lessons. Think of life lessons as themes that run through your life. I use the term life lessons because the word lessons is something we all understand from our experiences at school. But these aren’t lessons in the traditional sense of being tested or graded. From an Akashic perspective, Life Lessons are chosen by the soul before incarnation. There can be three main reasons for this. Firstly, a life lesson may relate to a pattern that your soul wants to clear from a past life. Secondly, and equally, a life lesson can relate to the life situations and circumstances of your present life. And thirdly, your Soul may be interested in working through Genetic Karma using the lens of a particular life lesson. Genetic karma is connected with our ancestral heritage, the patterns and energy that can be carried through our family line. So you can see how Life Lessons can run through our lives almost like an energetic thread. So how do Life Lessons work, exactly? When I read your Akashic Records through your Divine Soul Blueprint, which is the essence of who you are at the soul level, I look for your personal Life Lessons. There is a Primary Life Lesson I can intuit, along with three to six Secondary Life Lessons, depending on what your Soul has chosen for this lifetime. These life lessons can relate to up to 11 different life areas. Examples of life areas are Career, Health and Wellness, and Relationships. Some life lessons may be active in your life from day one. Others may be sparked off by a particular life situation or circumstance. And sometimes a life lesson can be activated by a karmic pattern that is asking to be cleared. You’ll often know when a karmic pattern is being activated because you notice something repeating in your life. Noticing Repeating Patterns You might find yourself experiencing similar situations again and again. Or feeling as though something almost just out of reach is holding you back. But for this podcast, let’s come back to life lessons. So by now, you’re probably wondering which Life Lessons you might have. I can intuit your life lessons from your Divine Soul Blueprint, that cloud or URL of soul energy that’s accessible through your Akashic Records. Discovering your life lessons, especially your primary life lesson, can be a real head-slap moment. It’s very helpful and validating to learn because it can put so much of your present life experiences into a whole new perspective. Resource: Why We Fear Change Life Lessons Podcast: Human Design May Show Us Life Lessons Sometimes life lessons show themselves very clearly in your Human Design chart. This is a representation of your aura using ancient and modern measurement tools, such as the Hindu chakra system and the Chinese I Ching prediction system. Recently, I started work as a specialist on something new called the Success Codex, which looks at some astrological aspects of your personality plus the main aspects of your personality through Human Design. Sometimes the life lessons show themselves energetically in the Success Codex chart, too. At other times, the actual words of the life lessons come up. I find this so fascinating as a reader that information I channel also shows up in a chart. Amazing validation! (See story below). Human Design +How The Success Codex Changed My Experience of Life Lessons In 2024, I found myself studying my energy in a whole new way. I’m definitely a student of the new. This partly comes from my Divine Soul Blueprint, where my primary Energy Center is Divine Communication – an aspect of this energy is being the eternal student! Read the full story over at Soul Intelligence on Substack Life Lessons Podcast: Example of Life Lessons Through A Famous Person Let’s look at life lessons through Human Design and the Success Codex now. It’s always helpful to have an example to relate to when we’re contemplating a spiritual concept like life lessons. This month, I’ve chosen Gary Moore, who is a famous guitarist. If you don’t know who he was, check him out on YouTube. Search for Gary Moore, The Messiah Will Come Again, and you’ll get a sense of his incredible expertise and passion. Of course, we’re not all Gary Moores. We’re all designed to be uniquely ourselves. But looking at his life lessons and his Human Design Life Purpose in relation to his career gives us a really interesting example. Life Lessons Podcast: Lessons Are Like A Slide Rule And do remember that Life Lessons are a little bit like a slide rule. If you have the Primary Life Lesson of Abundance, for example, you might experience financial abundance and have plenty of resources in your life. But equally, you might find that you struggle with abundance throughout your life. The soul is interested in experiencing the Life Lesson. It doesn’t judge the experience in the way we humans tend to. And who knows, if you struggle with a particular life lesson, perhaps there is a karmic pattern getting in the way of fully experiencing it. So, back to Gary Moore’s life lessons. His primary life lesson was Peace, which, looking at his life history, was something he struggled to find. His secondary life lessons were Ease, Abundance, and Openness. He may have felt most at peace when he was playing and working with music. He did experience financial abundance through his work over time, although sometimes that abundance became out of balance. Gary Moore’s Life Purpose His soul’s intention was simply to experience ease or not, abundance or not, openness or not. He famously fell out with fellow musicians, sometimes fell back in with them again, and had an eventful personal life. Through Human Design, his life purpose is that of Endeavor. And interestingly, it’s 11.11 on the clock as I’m recording these notes for the podcast. He was totally focused on his musical career throughout his life, and the level of skill he achieved on the guitar was a true endeavor. As a young man, he even stretched out the tendons on his left hand so that he could play the guitar right-handed. He was naturally left-handed. Now that’s definitely an endeavor. Through his Success Codex chart, I can see that he regulated his emotions through creativity. Maybe that gave him some peace. His Superpower was Sharing, and his North Node or Purpose was to live through his Passion. His guiding light from the Success Codex™ was to cultivate his Wisdom. As with many people’s lifetimes, he worked through some of his life lessons, but didn’t necessarily work through all of the potential within each lesson. And again, the Soul doesn’t judge this. It simply experiences. Life Lessons Podcast: You May Recognize Your Life Lessons Now let’s consider recognizing your own life lessons through your intuition, the I in the SHINE model. When clients hear their life lessons, they often intuitively start to connect the dots with where and when particular life lessons have been activated in their lives. Synchronicity is defined in the dictionary as events that appear to an observer as connected in some significant way. A classic example of synchronicity was related by the psychologist Carl Jung, who invented the word when he experienced it. Working with a client, he was hoping for an ‘unexpected and irrational event’ to break through her defenses. As she described a dream about a golden scarab beetle as jewelry, there was a tapping at the window; Jung opened it and caught a scarab beetle, whose golden-green color closely resembled that of the beetle in her dream. We can often find that synchronous events like this bring us strongly into the present moment. This is one of the ways that synchronicity can help us on the spiritual journey. Resource: Blog Insight Post – Synchronicity In The New Age How Synchronicity Works Through Five Mystical Approaches In this podcast, we’re going to use my SHINE Model to explore synchronicity on a much deeper level. SHINE is an acronym that takes us through five energetic levels of awareness. It also reflects the different systems and approaches I use in my readings, coaching, and classes. Together, they give us a framework for understanding not only synchronicity, but also ourselves. The S in SHINE stands for Soul-level awareness. This is the realm of the fifth dimension, the Akashic Records, Spirit Guides, and our deeper soul connection. It’s where we begin to see life from a much bigger perspective. The H stands for Human Design. Human Design is a map of your energy. As I always heard Richard Bandler say in another context, the map is not the territory (our Human Design Chart is not us!). The chart is not here to tell you what to do with your life. Instead, it helps you understand how your aura naturally operates, so you can live more authentically in your own energy and make choices that are aligned with who you really are. The I stands for Intuition. This is about strengthening your connection with your Higher Self. I often describe it as expanding the relationship between the seven chakras within the body and the eighth chakra above the head, which I work with as the Soul Star Chakra. As that connection deepens, intuition becomes clearer and more natural. The N stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming, or NLP. At its heart, NLP is about understanding how our thoughts, language, and patterns influence the way we experience the world. It offers practical tools for creating positive change and personal growth. Finally, the E stands for Energetics. This is everything happening within your energy field—your aura, your emotional and mental bodies, and the energetic dynamics that influence your everyday experiences, often without you even realising it. Using these five perspectives, we’ll explore how synchronicity works, not just as a series of meaningful coincidences, but as something that can be understood on multiple levels of awareness. That gives us a much richer picture of what may really be happening when synchronicity shows up in our lives. I like to think of it as a continuously flowing river of energy, carrying currents of information and energetic charges. One of the reasons synchronicity is so powerful on the spiritual journey is that it reminds us we aren’t simply a mind living inside a body. We are connected to something much greater. Those connections exist within us, through our inner world, and they extend outwards to other souls and to the living field of life itself. So, How Do We Begin To Notice Synchronicity? One way is to recognize that when we’re becoming aware of meaningful coincidences, we may also be moving into a state of greater vibrational awareness. As our awareness expands, we naturally become more open to seeing patterns, connections, and possibilities that we may have overlooked before. A moment of synchronicity can remind us of our deeper purpose. It may help us feel connected with loved ones in Spirit, offer fresh insight into a relationship or life situation, or completely transform the way we understand a particular circumstance. Sometimes a synchronicity doesn’t change what’s happening around us. Instead, it changes how we see it. And that shift in perspective can make all the difference. How Synchronicity Works Through Soul-level Awareness So, let’s look at synchronicity from the perspective of Soul-level awareness. I believe we all have what I call a Divine Soul Blueprint. One way to imagine it is as your Soul’s own cloud storage or internet site. When a Soul individuates—separates from the greater sea of consciousness—and begins the journey of incarnation, it creates a unique blueprint that holds its individual essence, along with a record of its experiences across lifetimes. That record of incarnations is what many people know as the Akashic Records. Your current life can be accessed in the Akashic Records through your present name and birth details. From there, if it’s helpful for your growth, the records may also reveal information about other lifetimes and the threads that connect them to your life today. So Where Does Synchronicity Fit With Our Divine Soul Blueprint? I’ve found that when we begin to understand aspects of our Divine Soul Blueprint—things like our Divine Energy Centers or our Soul Group—we often discover that we’ve already been living in synchronicity with them all along. We simply didn’t have the language to recognise it. Let me give you an example of how synchronicity works through our Divine Soul Blueprint. When I first discovered that I’m part of the Mintakan Soul Group, so many experiences in my life suddenly made sense. One of the gifts often associated with Mintakan Souls is the ability to perceive future potential in people, situations, and circumstances. It sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? The challenge, at least for me, was that I unconsciously projected those beautiful future possibilities onto people and assumed that was who they already were. Instead of seeing them as they were in the present moment, I was seeing who they could become. After two marriages, I realised that was a very important lesson for me. Human Design and Synchronicity Let’s move on to the H in the SHINE Model: Human Design. If you’re new to Human Design, feel free to visit my website where you can request a free chart and a short introductory report. As an Akashic Records Reader, I see Human Design as the blueprint for your physical life—or, as I sometimes call it, your “meat suit.” Your Soul Blueprint remains the same from lifetime to lifetime, but your Human Design blueprint changes with each incarnation, reflecting the unique circumstances and lessons of this life. Your chart is created using your birth date, time, and location. One thing I always like to emphasize is that Human Design isn’t a prediction tool. It doesn’t tell you what is going to happen. Instead, it shows you how your energy naturally operates. It points you back towards the person you were before family expectations, culture, education, and conditioning layered themselves over your authentic nature. How Does Synchronicity Work With Human Design? The first example I have relates to one of the energy centres in my chart. Human Design works with nine energy centres. Seven of them will probably be familiar if you’ve studied the chakra system—the Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye, and Crown. Human Design also includes two additional centres: the G Centre, which I often think of as our inner GPS, and the Spleen Centre. Now, the physical spleen is a small organ tucked under your left rib cage. It filters blood and plays an important role in the immune system. Energetically, however, the Spleen Centre is associated with instinct, intuition in the moment, and our awareness of wellbeing and potential risks. I often describe it as being a bit like an energetic sonar, constantly scanning our environment. The Spleen Chakra Or Energy Center In Human Design People with a defined Spleen Centre often have a consistent instinctive awareness and can help others feel safe. They also tend to respond very quick

Our Soul’s consciousness enters our body, and through biological and energetic processes, we are created as a Soul having a physical experience. We don’t necessarily remember our Divine Soul Blueprint, since we ‘fall’ into a lower vibrational state through the Veil of Forgetting. More people are now remembering their past lives through past-life regression practices, and this is part of the spiritual awakening on Earth. As we grow in utero, our Design information, or Soul’s intentions for this life, is transmitted energetically into our bodies through a crystalline transmission. We end up with 3 energetic crystals separated in the body: – The Personality Crystal, also known as ‘Passenger Consciousness’ – it’s not really driving the ‘car’ of our body, but likes to think it is! Our Design Crystal in the Mind, Ajna or Third Eye Chakra, which contains subconscious information and threads that connect us to the field of energy and our Soul. The GPS or Magnetic Monopole Crystal in the Self or Identity Chakra is located in the center of the chest. This draws us to resonant situations and circumstances, literally like a GPS. Vibration, Past Life Karma, Genetic Karma, Life Lessons These crystals transmit aspects of who we are into our bodies. When we are born, we inherit a vibration that matches our parents’. This is for survival reasons. This all sounds pretty good. You can learn to shine through your Soul Blueprint once you know what it is, right? Yes, and…then we also inherit what I call the twin streams. Our Genetic Karma or inherited Karma from our family line, Karma and Dharma from Past Lives, and any Life Lessons that our Soul is interested in experiencing in the present life. Then we need to experience life by balancing everything out through free will and choice. What’s also interesting about learning to shine through your Soul Blueprint is that when you begin to make these connections, you are opening to your Higher Self. The Higher Self is the connection to our Soul, and when we work with our Soul Blueprint or the Akashic Records, our intuitive abilities naturally expand as a kind of side effect. Between us, we cooked up all sorts of trouble, including creating a course that enabled people to learn to type in one day. It was the ’90s in the UK, and there was a big skills gap at the time. My business partner, the other trainer at the time, suggested we attend NLP™ training to help grow our business. This meant that people could be inspired to learn what they needed to know more easily, even from potentially boring computer courses, in a positive way. There are five Human Design types, and Gloria Gaynor, the legendary singer of I Will Survive, is one of them: a Projector. So what exactly is a Human Design Projector? They’re the new leaders and guides of humanity — those who see deeply into others and help direct collective growth. The 5 Human Design Types If you’ve come across Human Design, you’ll know there are five distinct Human Design Types: – The Generator The Manifesting Generator The Manifestor The Projector (this page). The Reflector. The Projector: A New Kind of Leader According to the Human Design chart (based on her birthdate, 7th September 1943), Gloria Gaynor is indeed a Projector. Projectors began incarnating in greater numbers around the mid-1700s, marking the emergence of a new evolutionary role for humanity — one focused not on initiating action, but on guiding it. While Manifestors (like me) were the leaders of earlier eras, Projectors are designed to connect, visualize, and direct. They read the energy of individuals or groups and help channel that energy toward goals, projects, and even movements. Some Famous Human Design Projectors Historical examples include: – Winston Churchill Queen Elizabeth II Nelson Mandela Napoleon Bonaparte. (Napoleon may not have embodied the highest expression of this energy, given his war campaigns, but he certainly demonstrated the Projector’s ability to inspire and mobilize others.) Modern examples include: – Barack Obama Pablo Picasso Steven Spielberg Princess Anne, Princess Royal Taylor Swift and, of course, Gloria Gaynor. Projectors and Energy Projectors, like Manifestors, are non-Sacral beings — meaning their Sacral Chakra is undefined. About 30% of humanity shares this trait. If you’re non-Sacral, your energy works differently. You’re not designed for constant output. While Generators and Manifesting Generators have a steady flow of Sacral energy (and can often “work until they drop”), Projectors and Manifestors thrive in shorter bursts, followed by rest. When Projectors seem full of energy, it’s often because they’re amplifying the Sacral energy of others, especially when they’re collaborating or surrounded by engaged, energized people. Learning to manage this dynamic of knowing when to rest and recharge when needed is key to thriving as a Projector. Back to Gloria Gaynor – and I Will Survive If I asked you to name one song by Gloria Gaynor, you’d likely say it instantly: – “I Will Survive.” This timeless anthem wasn’t originally expected to be a hit. When first released, it was placed on the B-side of a single, an afterthought compared to the main track, Substitute by the Righteous Brothers. But Gloria knew the song’s power. She felt the audience’s emotional response when she performed it live. Her intuition (pure Projector wisdom) told her this song would connect with people deeply — and she was right. The Story of… ‘I Will Survive’ by Gloria Gaynor – Smooth (smoothradio.com) Gloria Gaynor’s Throat Chakra When I looked at Gloria Gaynor’s Human Design chart, one feature stood out: Her Throat Chakra is alive with expression. In Human Design, the Throat Center contains 11 gates — each one has a different “voice” or archetype of expression. Most people have a few of these activated. Gloria has nine. That’s an extraordinary level of vocal power, not just in the physical sense, but in energetic resonance. Her voice literally carries multiple frequencies of communication and connection. Her Throat Chakra is supported by two other defined centers: – The G Center (Sense of Self) — the green diamond below the Throat The Ajna (Third Eye) — the darker green triangle above the Throat This combination gives her voice clarity, purpose, and intuitive resonance, the very qualities that allow a song like I Will Survive to move hearts across generations. The 9 Voice Gates in Gloria’s Chart Here are Gloria’s activated Throat Gates and their energetic “tones”: Gate 56 – The Wanderer: Curiosity and storytelling. Gate 35 – Progress: Versatility and experience. Gate 12 – Standstill: Reflection, openness, and social grace. Gate 33 – Retreat: The witness; one who holds history. Gate 8 – Contribution: Offering something valuable to the collective. Gate 31 – Influence: Leadership and authority. Gate 20 – The Now: Manifestation — turning thoughts into action. Gate 16 – Selectivity: Talent and refinement. Gate 62 – Expressing Details: Precision and organization. No wonder her voice feels so multi-dimensional. Through these nine energetic “voices,” she can reach thousands — even millions — with her expression. The Deeper Meaning of I Will Survive The song was written by Dino Fekaris and Freddie Perren, with Fekaris drawing from his own experience of being fired from Motown Records. Its lyrics carry universal resonance: strength after struggle, empowerment after loss. When those words met Gloria’s voice, carrying the energy of nine active gates, the result was magic. As Gloria herself said: “I love the empowering effect; I love the encouraging effect. It’s a timeless lyric that addresses a timeless concern.” Gloria Gaynor A Projector’s Legacy It’s no coincidence that I Will Survive became a cross-generational anthem of empowerment. Gloria Gaynor’s chart shows the pure essence of a Human Design Projector, guiding, inspiring, and influencing through energy, voice, and vision. A recent documentary film about her life was shown in theaters for one night only (what a shame!).     Human Design – Why Manifesting Generators Have Powerful Throat Chakras

    On Fridays, I like to unwind with People Magazine. It’s a light ritual, a mix of stories about one of my favorite subjects: human nature. Recently, a familiar name caught my eye — Carrie Underwood — and, as it turns out, she’s a Manifesting Generator in the Human Design system. Carrie Underwood, Human Design, and the Manifesting Generator Type If you’ve ever flipped to the back page of People Magazine, you’ve probably seen the “One Last Thing” feature, a quick-fire interview where the same five questions are asked of a celebrity each week. In an October issue, that celebrity was Carrie Underwood, singer, songwriter, and winner of American Idol’s fourth season. Curious, I looked up her birth date on Wikipedia and ran her Human Design chart. What I discovered fascinated me: Carrie is a Manifesting Generator, one of the most dynamic energy types in Human Design. That one chart sparked a whole new exploration, and this post (and podcast!) grew from there. Feeling Overwhelmed by Personality Systems? You’re Not Alone There are so many personality tests and self-awareness tools out there — Myers-Briggs, Enneagram, astrology, numerology — and now, Human Design. Life is busy, and many of these systems can feel complicated or even overwhelming. So, how do we get the most out of them without drowning in data? I often remind my clients: – “Understanding your energy is like solving a multidimensional Rubik’s cube — one small move at a time unlocks the next level.” That’s exactly how Human Design works. What is Human Design? Human Design is a unique system that weaves together four ancient traditions with one modern scientific discovery – creating a map of how your energy is designed to operate. It blends: The Hindu Chakra System The Jewish Kabbalah (Tree of Life) Western Astrology The I-Ching, an ancient Chinese system of 64 archetypes representing facets of the human experience. The fifth and most modern layer is genetics. The 64 I-Ching hexagrams correspond to the 64 codons in human DNA (discovered by Watson and Crick in 1953). Together, these elements form a multidimensional framework for understanding who we are, how our energy moves, and how we interact with the world. The Challenge with Human Design Charts If you’ve ever seen your chart, you may have felt both intrigued and a little lost. People often tell me, “I had my chart done once… and then I had no idea what to do with it!” It’s understandable. The chart looks like a beautiful matrix of shapes, numbers, and colors, fascinating, but also overwhelming at first. That’s why I encourage people to start simple: focus on your Type and your chakra pattern first. Human Design isn’t meant to be memorized; it’s meant to be felt. Once you start noticing how your energy naturally flows, the chart begins to “speak” and each part clicks into place. The Five Human Design Types There are five main energy Types in Human Design: Manifestor Generator Manifesting Generator Projector Reflector My own aura type is Manifestor, and I’ve written more about that in this blog post. But today, let’s focus on the Manifesting Generator — the type that both Carrie Underwood and Simon Cowell share. Understanding the Manifesting Generator Manifesting Generators are energetic dynamos, creative, fast-moving, and full of drive. They juggle multiple passions, explore widely, and learn by doing. Once something excites them, they go all in, full throttle, no hesitation. They often have an entrepreneurial streak or an unconventional approach to life. They innovate naturally, bringing fresh energy or a new twist to familiar ideas. The Power of the Throat Chakra Every Manifesting Generator has a defined Throat Chakra, a constant energetic connection to expression. This gives them a magnetic voice, a natural ability to translate inspiration into sound, speech, and creative manifestation. Imagine a lamp that’s always plugged in and ready to shine – that’s what a defined Throat Chakra feels like. The current is always on, waiting for a cue to illuminate. Carrie Underwood’s Heart-Driven Voice In Human Design terms, Carrie Underwood’s Throat Chakra is powered by both her Heart Chakra and Sacral Chakra — a combination known as The Money Line. This channel fuses love, passion, and creativity into one steady current, linking heartfelt communication with material and emotional success. Think about the raw emotion in her song “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” That’s Heart-Throat energy in motion — vulnerability turned into resonance. When the Heart and Throat align, passion flows into purpose, and purpose into prosperity. Simon Cowell: A Different Kind of Manifesting Generator Simon Cowell, interestingly, is also a Manifesting Generator, but his energy moves very differently from Carrie’s. His Throat connects to his Sacral energy through his Self Center (sometimes called the GPS Chakra). This creates what’s known as the Channel of Exploration, the energy of trailblazing and bold self-expression. He also carries the Alpha Channel, which drives leadership and the courage to speak truth without apology. We’ve all seen it on American Idol: Simon’s sharp honesty, his confidence, his clarity. That’s his design in action. Carrie’s Superpower: The Channel of Concentration Carrie’s chart also features a defined link between her Root Chakra (drive and stamina) and her Sacral Chakra (life force and creativity). This forms the Channel of Concentration — the energy of sustained focus and productive flow. It’s what allows her to channel her creativity day after day, maintaining steady momentum over time. With rest and balance, this becomes her secret to long-term success. Final Thoughts Both Carrie Underwood and Simon Cowell are brilliant examples of the Manifesting Generator in action, yet they express that energy in completely different ways. That’s the beauty of Human Design: no two charts are ever the same. Even when people share the same Type, their specific channels, chakras, and life experiences give them their own energetic fingerprint. Here’s how it breaks down: Design Sun Gate: Top of the left-hand column (unconscious expression) Design Earth Gate: Second square in the left-hand column Personality Sun Gate: Top of the right-hand column (conscious expression) Personality Earth Gate: Second square in the right-hand column You can think of it as your core frequency, similar to your Primary and Secondary Energy Centers in Akashic Records work. Your Energy Centers express roughly half of your soul’s energy across lifetimes — eternal and unchanging, life after life. Your Incarnation Cross, however, reflects how that energy wants to express itself now, in this particular life. Think Soul Blueprint – eternal and unique Soul Expression, Human Design – your Soul’s intentions for this lifetime. How to Live Out Your Life Purpose or Incarnation Cross Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could receive an email from the Universe outlining our Life Purpose? Unfortunately — or perhaps wisely — consciousness doesn’t work that way. It’s a co-creative dance between spirit and matter, awareness and action. Think of your Life Purpose not as an instruction manual, but as a frequency, a way of being rather than a list of tasks. You can choose to ignore it, partially live it, or even express it in its reverse polarity (which can be just as educational!). To make this theme more tangible, I’ll share a personal example: how my father and I both lived (and learned from) the Incarnation Cross of Eden. Only 192 Incarnation Crosses and 8 Billion People? In Human Design, there are 192 possible Life Themes or Incarnation Crosses, which might seem like a small number for more than 8 billion people on the planet. But remember, each Cross is expressed through: Your time and place of birth, which shape your Personality Gates. Your Design Gates, calculated 88 days before birth. Your unique genetic expression (no two are alike). Your karmic patterns, carried in your Akashic Records. And your soul’s larger evolutionary trajectory through many lifetimes. So even if two people share the same Cross, the way they live it out will be unique. My Father and I: The Incarnation Cross of Eden Both my father and I share the Life Purpose of Eden, souls who, in essence, carry the vibration of a higher, more harmonious world. You could say we come from a place where negativity is rare, and joy is our natural state. And then… we incarnate on Earth. Here, we get to practice rediscovering Eden within the chaos, to bring that light into form. My Father’s Not-So-Edenic Beginning My dad’s childhood was far from Eden. His father, my grandfather, fought in World War I and returned home severely injured after being gassed in the trenches. He lost a lung, most of his hair, and passed away young, leaving my grandmother widowed. Dad’s mother had her own struggles, and he arrived late in her life, as what was then called a “menopause baby,” which carried social stigma at the time. She had difficulty caring for him, so her sister, Aunt Nell, stepped in. She lived next door and made sure Dad had a bath and a warm meal each week (usually fish and chips). That was his only experience of childhood Eden, small but consistent acts of care. A Hardworking Man Trying to Create His Own Eden My dad rowing a dingy in Shalfleet on the Isle of Wight, during a family holiday My dad was determined to build a better life. He became a production engineer in aviation design and even earned his physics degree at night school by tutoring other students. By the time he met my mum, he was established, and they built a solid life together. They cared for his mother until her passing and even bought their first home as a young couple, quite an achievement for that era. Yet deep down, my dad knew he wasn’t living in Eden. So, he set out to create one of his own. Every summer, he’d take us camping and sailing near Newtown River on the Isle of Wight. He and a friend restored a £20 boat that became our family treasure. Those holidays became our family’s Eden, filled with sunshine, sea air, and connection. For those weeks each year, he was more fully present for some of the time. To me, he seemed relaxed, joyful, and at peace. The rest of the year, though, was a struggle. The Shadow Side of Eden After returning home from our holidays, Dad would sink back into dissatisfaction. His work as a production manager at a sewing thread manufacturer often left him drained, caught between management and the shop floor, trying to keep everyone happy. I remember him sitting at the dining table, cigarette in hand, frustration in his posture. He longed to work with his hands, carving wood, creating beauty, but practicality kept him from following that dream. He’d imagined a life of peace and craft, yet found himself in the machinery of production. It’s a powerful illustration of the Eden Cross polarity, yearning for paradise while feeling trapped in the material world. Living the Cross of Eden More Fully For those of us carrying this Life Purpose, the world can feel… dense. We remember, on some soul level, what harmony feels like, and we ache for it here. But the invitation isn’t to escape Earth; it’s to bring the light of Eden into the present moment, through our awareness, our choices, and our inner work. This planet isn’t (yet) a place where everyone has the luxury to “just be.” But that doesn’t mean the Eden frequency can’t exist; it simply starts within. Inner Light Work: Returning to Eden The real key to living the Incarnation Cross of Eden is to cultivate an inner state of lightness and peace. When we anchor that energy inside ourselves, it naturally radiates outward. We don’t need to teach or persuade — resonance does the work. If we can find that Eden frequency, even for moments at a time, we live our purpose more fully. We become beacons — quiet reminders that paradise begins in consciousness, not circumstance. Caroline Myss Archetype Cards on Amazon. Archetypes, as you may know, are energetic blueprints, patterns of thought and behavior that exist within the collective mind. They describe the roles we embody as humans on our path of growth. Each archetype has light and shadow aspects. In this channeling, I focused on the positive, light-filled side of each one. I channeled a fascinating six-step cycle of transformation: how we move from student to mentor and back again. View the show notes >> The Journey of Mentorship What I discovered is that becoming a mentor isn’t a single event; it’s a cycle. We begin as students. Often, we don’t even realize we’re stepping into mentorship until we’re already actively practicing it. Maybe a teacher once asked you to help another student, or a friend turned to you for advice. For me, it started while working at Channel 4 Television, teaching colleagues how to use Wang typewriters (remember those?). I only learned to use one myself because I wanted to save my work! Yet, that small moment led to a lifelong path of teaching and training. In that instance, my teacher wasn’t a person, it was new technology. The Six-Step Archetype Cycle (from Caroline Myss’s Deck) The cards my Spirit Guides directed me to were: The Mentor The Ascent (The Magical Journey Begins) The Lover The Mother The Scribe The Poet And then—back again to The Mentor. When the Student Is Ready… The first message that came through was clear: A Mentor is a Student in disguise. Wisdom is not just received—it’s embodied. The eternal student learns, applies, and evolves. As the saying goes: “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.” I’ve had many teachers—some conventional, others unexpected. True mentorship is synchronistic and empathic. There’s a mutual exchange of energy and understanding that helps both people grow. A wonderful example of this is the relationship in The Karate Kid: the timeless dance of student and teacher, each reflecting the other as they both grow. The Ascent — Moving Toward Mastery After learning from a mentor, we begin The Ascent. We take what we’ve learned and move upward into new life stages, creative pursuits, or personal challenges. This is the part of the Hero’s Journey Joseph Campbell described so beautifully: the mountain is never the same mountain upon your return, and the river is never the same. Growth requires courage. Along the way, we face our “monsters”, usually obstacles that test and strengthen us. The Lover — Learning Through the Heart The next card, The Lover, speaks of passion and devotion, the unbridled appreciation for someone or something. But love can also become obsession or self-destruction if we lose balance. The deeper truth of this archetype is that every act of love teaches self-love. To love others fully, we must first learn to keep our own hearts open, even after they’ve closed and reopened many times. Love is always a mirror: in the end, all love is love of the Self, reflected through others. The Mother — Creating and Letting Go I remember attending my first Kryon conference when my eldest was still a toddler. The channeling by Lee Carroll emphasized the word responsibility, and I suddenly grasped the profound responsibility of nurturing a child into adulthood. Parenting, like mentoring, is a powerful heart-opener. It invites us to grow something new, whether that’s a child, a creative project, or even a movement. Yet, what we create, we must also release. The child becomes an adult. The project is complete. The book is written. Growth always involves letting go so that new life can emerge. The Scribe — Stewarding Knowledge Next comes The Scribe, the keeper of knowledge and stories. Recently, I was reminded of the difference between preserving information and stewarding it. In truth, knowledge isn’t ours to own. It moves through us, not from us. As scribes, we receive wisdom, process it, and share it in the way that best serves others. Information isn’t the gift, it’s the bridge to understanding. Through this process, our experiences crystallize into insights we can transmit, whether through writing, teaching, or simply the way we live. The Poet — Expressing Soul Wisdom Finally, we arrive at The Poet. The Poet expresses Soul insight through symbolic language, art, words, or resonance. After the Dark Night of the Soul, after the desert of transformation, we emerge with wisdom we can’t help but express. The Poet’s role is to sing the soul’s truth in a way others can feel. At this point, we often find ourselves mentoring others without realizing it. The cycle begins again. The Infinite Spiral of Student and Mentor The truth is, there’s no beginning and no end to the student–mentor journey. It’s a continual spiral of learning, embodying, creating, and sharing. If we can stay in a state of curiosity, the “beginner’s mind”, we remain both student and mentor simultaneously. As I like to say: We’re all on the same bus—just sitting in different seats. Each of us has a unique view to share from where we are on the journey..     Your 7 Energy Bodies and why we are all so different

    Energy Bodies – March 2023 Podcast This month I’m going to be talking about our Energy and our seven energy bodies.  These bodies comprise something people talk about or speak about as our aura. There is an aura; most of us start with the chakras, but we also have a Personal Energy Field that expands out from us and all around us.  Anything from 2 feet to 30 feet, all the way around us, depending on what we are doing with our energy. We’re going to figure out why we’re all so different when it comes to energy and energy systems.  At first glance, our energy systems seem to be all the same. We are also going to find out what happens in brief when our personal energy merges with someone else. Our Personal Energy Field is electromagnetic, just like the Earth The Earth is surrounded by an electromagnetic field, just like any planet which is influenced by the Sun or Solar energies as well. So here we are on Earth, this Being that’s been created by Earth, and we’re electromagnetic. Our Life Force or ‘chi’, when we’re incarnated into a body, generates a field around us comprised of several different energy bodies, and sometimes people can sense different aspects of our energy bodies.  An example would be – how someone is feeling, which relates to our emotional energy body. Some of you may know about chakras if you’ve done any meditation work, yoga, or other types of focused energy work. The chakras can be thought of as bundles or centers of energy that are focused on a particular area of the body.  These energy bundles relate to, or have connections to, the different energy bodies. What’s next with our energy bodies? People in meditative practice soon find out that there is more than just one energy body. These energy bodies expand all around us; they are not just located in one area of the body, because all 7 energy bodies generate our energy field or aura. The Physical Energy Body We have a Physical Energy Body, created from our Life Force.  This energy body is created by the life force emanating from us.  Our DNA and our cells are active, and the mitochondria in our cells are active.  Our Physical Energy Body can also be read through energy work or readings. These approaches help us to intuit things like present Life Purpose and how balanced our Chakras are. The Astral Energy Body Then we have an Astral Energy Body. A lot of people are very keen on astral travel (or at least trying to do it). The Astral Body, also known as the Emotional Body, collects, stores, and transmits all human emotions and desires. When we are born and therefore incarnated, the Astral Body is the first energy body that we begin to grow. The Mental Energy Body Then we have the Mental Body. You can think of the Mental Energy Body as under construction. Every time we think, focus, create, or have an idea, we are using our Mental Energy Body. We can create from our internal experience, or our collective or group experience of the whole of humanity. We can also be affected in our Mental Body by thoughts from the collective. Our Mental Body is also conditioned by our family group, our social behaviors, habits, or even our culture. All of these things build the Mental Energy Body over time, and it is attached to the Emotional Body. You could say that ‘You are what you think’, and ‘You are what you feel’. The Causal Energy Body Think of the Causal Body as ‘the collective goodwill of your Soul’ (Richard Rudd, the Gene Keys). The Causal Energy Body is a sort of storage facility. It’s also an energy holder of all the things we create in this life. Some examples are our actions, our emotions, and our thoughts. The Causal Body is what gets taken with us when we pass on or transition. It takes that ‘collective goodwill of the Soul’ and adds it to our Akashic Records. The Buddhic Energy Body – Higher Astral Body His Holiness the Dalai Lama is probably familiar with this one! Think of the Buddhic Body as a more refined version of the Astral Body. This is why there is a connection there between the emotions and higher experiences in meditation. When we go into Higher States of feeling or sensation, we may have a blissful experience. This can sometimes be because we are accessing our Buddhic Energy Body. The Atmic Energy Body – Higher Mental Body This is a higher vibration of the Mental Energy Body. Some people refer to the Atmic Energy Body as the Higher Self, which is also our Intuition. It’s about connecting with our Divine Mind. It can give us a sense of our Soul, our Higher Self, Intuition, and also synchronicity. The Monadic Energy Body – The ‘Case’ Or Outer Lining The Monadic Energy Body surrounds and supports all the other energy bodies.  It’s a system that holds everything together, like an environment for software. This support happens from the cellular level upwards.   The Physical, Astral, Mental, Causal, Buddhic, and Atmic are all supported by the Monadic Body. The Monadic Body connects to the bigger ‘ocean’ of our Akashic Records. This includes past lives, our Soul Groups, and Soul Groups of origination. Same Energy System – Why So Different? So we all have the same circulatory systems, lymphatic systems, and cellular systems. Why are we all so different when we generate energy as incarnated beings? This is because, at the Soul Level, when a Soul incarnates into a body, it has an individual blueprint. This blueprint is made up of 8 different Divine energy types or centers. These centers present in different proportions for every single Soul.   So, just to begin with, there are eight different ways you can express your energy. We all also derive from 24 different Soul Groups. If we do the math, eight times twenty-four – that is quite a lot of differences just with those numbers. Then into that equation, we’re going to add our Soul Vibration Rate. This relates to our experiences in many lives. When we factor in what karma we’ve managed to clear and what level of awareness we’ve reached now, we can begin to establish where we are on our journey. This can be very different for everyone, and affect the mix of how we represent our energies in the world. Through Human Design, you can think about having an electromagnetic imprint for this lifetime, which your Soul has chosen. This relates to how your genes express themselves, what Life Purpose you have, and what tasks, life themes, or lessons your Soul wants to experience this lifetime. Through the Human Design chart itself – there can be a trillion or even trillions of different combinations! Trillions of combinations To sum up, purely on Planet Earth, just within humanity, we’d be going into one of those very long numbers with no endings on it! All of this affects our energy.  Plus, our past lives affect how we express our energy in present life. We’ve also chosen a particular genetic inheritance as we incarnate into this life. This is called genetic karma. Let’s not forget all our different present life experiences, too. I like to say we are all sitting on the same bus but in different seats. So, from our particular perspectives and our life experiences, things are different – even if they are sometimes similar. How Close Can We Get Before Our Auras Merge? When we get close to somebody else, we can start to feel their energy if we have energetic awareness. Aura merges, or Personal Energy Field merges, can start from up to 30 feet away. If you see somebody walking at a distance down the street, you may start to get some sense of who they are. As we get nearer, around 24 feet, the more we can sense an individual. When we live in big cities or walk in big crowds, we subconsciously filter all that information out. Our brain does that for us because it would be overwhelming otherwise. At 18 feet, the nearer we get to somebody, the more we can sense, notice, or feel.  At 12 feet, this is where we can begin to become very easily aware of someone’s energy. Maybe we can catch onto some of their thoughts or intentions. Now, this awareness can be anything from body movements or what you already know about the person, but there is also an energetic component as well. When the aura merge is at 6 feet of distance or less, the real question is: are you influencing them, or are they influencing you? What happens when your two energies merge? To summarize, our Personal Energy Field or aura is an electromagnetic field generated from our Life Force when we incarnate. Our Personal Energy can merge with others from 30 feet apart or less – in fact, more with remote intention. If you talk on the phone, you can become very connected with somebody. Even though they are not in the same room, you can start to tune into each other energetically. All of our individual Personal Energy Fields or auras contribute to the collective energy field of humans. So that means we are all unique, yet we’re all connected. So then I’m also now doing Human Design Readings, starting with intuiting your Life Purpose as well as your Soul Purpose from the Akashic Records. Well, when I worked with this client recently, an image came through for me and for her of a sunbeam. So, if you imagine your origination as a Soul, a little drop of consciousness in the big consciousness ocean, and seeing that drop of consciousness as a sunbeam coming down into planet Earth, and then focusing into a bright ray of sunlight which becomes your incarnated self. So, the energetic intersection between Human Design and the Akashic Records is that you are both the ray of the Sun and the single sunbeam. What Does This Mean In Practical Terms? Imagine your Soul Blueprint and Soul as the Sun?  Then your Human Design is that focused ray of light that ultimately creates who you are as an individually incarnated human. As part of this massive system of incarnation and reincarnation, your Human Design system looks at your:- 9 chakras, which you’ll notice there are 2 more than you are currently used to working with! What planetary influences were affecting you, both 88 days or a few months before birth, and at birth? How these planetary influences and electromagnetic DNA affect your human chemistry, as your DNA codons Your Human Design Type, I’m a Manifestor. There are several other types, so you find that out as part of the Human Design work Your Active Gates, which relate to the I-Ching, are aligned with the body functions that correlate with our DNA codons. There are 64 Gates in the I-Ching, and 64 DNA codons according to the Human Genome Project. Human Design also looks at your active channels. (When two Gates connect between two chakras on your Human Design Chart). Your Circuitry, which is about how you interact with the great matrix of human consciousness.  So circuitry can be Tribal, Logical, or Sensory-based; those are just some examples. How your aura works, how your life force energy comes through from the Soul and creates an electromagnetic field which you can sense yourself and which others can sense with you and from you. We still have free will on Earth, and we can still do all the things we want to do.  When we are incarnated, we do put some thought into where we are going to go, what we are going to be, and how we are going to get there–and even sometimes exactly what we are going to do, at least at the beginning. And this is all managed by your Soul and your Higher Self, including your Spirit Guides, both Master Guides and Inner Circle Guides, plus other guides as well. So you have both the subconscious drivers and conscious drivers, and these can be tracked through the systems and mechanisms in your Human Design Chart. Now then, of course, when you are incarnated, life begins, and here come choices and consequences and various other things that happen, karmically and otherwise, as we live. Our consciousness is the connection between the Akashic Records, our Soul Blueprint, and our Human Design, how we run our energy and operate our energy in this present life.
