I only recently started listening to this podcast but the host Chris O’Regan follows a formula each episode I’ve heard, so I feel comfortable rating it.
I like it! It’s an interview format with the 1st half focused on the interviewee and the 2nd half focused on their game.
What I like, in addition to hearing passionate people discuss their creations, is that it feels like the best way so far of passively discovering new games. I could “keep my finger on the pulse” and be better informed, as the host of the show is, but random active games research just isn’t something I have time for.
I listen to this at work, I hear about the game from the developer and a player (Chris O’Regan plays many of the games), then I google it and learn enough to know whether I want to play it. It occupies my ears - which doesn’t interfere with my work - and a couple minutes of googling.
I really enjoy this and value the service it provides. This is another well-made, professional journalistic podcast about video games that I appreciate on this network.
