My Never Ending Search for a To-Do List System (and Why It’s Probably Me)

I talk about my ongoing struggle to find a to-do list/CRM system that actually sticks for both client work and home life. Looking back, I found a 2014 episode where I was dealing with the same problem and using Trello and Todoist. Now I’m experimenting with Finalist. Finalist looks great and helps roll unfinished tasks forward, but it also tries to be a journal/planner, which can feel like too much. Low Energy Vibes for Monday (But With a Cool Story)

I missed recording on Sunday because I felt low-energy and uninspired. I’m trying not to beat myself up, and this year-long daily project helps me keep going even when I don’t feel inspired. A cool highlight that came out of doing this show was Transistor.fm’s customer service after a listener contacted them with an interesting request. Playing Tupo with Josh Collinsworth

For today’s Saturday chat I’m joined by Josh “Triple Threat” Collinsworth (design engineer at Cloudflare, blogger, and game designer), who I know from the ShopTalk Show Discord. We talk about Josh’s former company Deno was acquired by Cloudflare, remote-work continuity, and dig into the daily puzzle-game renaissance including Josh’s new browser-based PWA puzzle game Tupo. Hockey Chat with Spencer: Hellebuyck Edition

I asked my friend Spencer to play hockey correspondent and help me understand the ramifications of the Winnipeg Jets trading goalie Connor Hellebuyck, break down the players they got in return, and how the Hellebuyck drama compares to Spencer’s favourite team, the Detroit Red Wings, own drama involving Dylan Larkin as well as other players tied to last year’s U.S. Olympic team. Show Me Your Mic?

I got a YouTube comment asking if I’d ever bring back my old podcast about podcasting, Show Me Your Mic. It ran from 2013 to 2020 for about 130 episodes (mostly interviews) and eventually slowed down due to scheduling fatigue, work, and COVID. The show was an open invite for podcasters to talk about their gear, motivations, and whatever was happening in podcasting, and it also let me meet people I otherwise wouldn’t. Things I Love: VisionQuest

I’m recommending Vision Quest on Disney+ as part of a trilogy that starts with WandaVision and continues through Agatha All Along. As of this recording there are four episodes out, with eight total expected. It stars Paul Bettany as Vision, James Spader as Ultron, and Emily Hampshire (Stevie from Schitt’s Creek) as Edith, alongside other actors. (Get the artwork joke? Vision? Adjusting my glasses? My vision? Hahaha 🤖 Ultron laugh effect!) Why Can't I Just Release it Now!?

I’ve already recorded two upcoming Saturdays, but I struggle not to edit and publish immediately once something is recorded. Having finished work sitting scheduled feels weird, and it’s given me more appreciation for clients who record weeks or months early and then wait. I enjoy a variety of podcast themes—film, music, comedy, politics, etc. and they’re all entertaining in different ways, but when I want an actual slice of life, I turn to Daily(isn). Host Chris Enns shares everything from family funnies to tech talk, and sometimes even brings his guitar. His honest approach and willingness to share whatever is on his mind—no matter how personal—will make you feel better about your life no matter what kind of day you’re having.

I listen to Dailyish most mornings while making breakfast for my family and I really enjoy Chris's musings, updates, and ideas.

Dre van halen

This show is short, sweet, digestible, and thoughtful. Chris Enns muses each day on various topics. I always look forward to seeing his take on things.
Nice length

Liking the sound of his voice. Looked for news of any device mergers for mobile listening. Harder to accept the podcasts that are too short on my device generally. Prefer clean lyrics and less tech jargon. Cute and short.
