    Rick Robertson: The Great Reordering

    What does it mean to be a Christ-centred church? What does it mean to put Jesus at the heart of our lives, our church and everything we do? Drawing from Philippians 3:7-11, Rick considers how knowing Jesus surpasses everything else we might place our confidence in. Our acceptance by God isn’t based on our performance or how well we manage to live the Christian life, but on what Jesus has already accomplished for us through His life, death and resurrection. Rick explores the importance of standing in Christ and resting in His grace, rather than striving to prove ourselves worthy; abiding in Christ and growing in a real relationship with Him; and surrendering to Christ, allowing Him to shape our priorities, decisions and identity. As we revisit Jubilee Church Wirral’s vision to be a Christ-centred church, making disciples, loving one another and advancing the kingdom of God, Rick challenges us to consider whether Jesus truly is at the centre of everything.     Dave Frodsham: Making disciples who make disciples

    What does it really mean to be a disciple of Jesus? And how can we become disciples who make disciples? In this message, Dave Frodsham of Jubilee Church Wirral explores Jesus’ Great Commission in Matthew 28:16–20, reminding us that following Jesus is about much more than making a confession of faith or attending church on a Sunday. Being a disciple means hearing what God is saying to us and putting it into practice. Dave unpacks the call to make disciples, the characteristics of a disciple and the environment we need to create for discipleship to flourish. He challenges us to move beyond simply receiving the good news ourselves and to share it with others, building relationships, modelling a genuine faith and helping people grow as followers of Jesus. Our calling is both to worship God and to see His kingdom advance. As we follow Jesus, we are called to equip and encourage one another, reach those who don’t yet know Him, and help new believers become disciples who will go on to make disciples themselves.     Denise Griffiths: Being Family Together

    Denise Griffiths explores what it really means for us to be “family together” as the church. Building on our vision and values, Denise reminds us that church is much more than a group of people who meet together on a Sunday. Through Jesus, we have been brought into a new family — with God as our Father and one another as brothers and sisters. Looking at passages from 1 Timothy, Romans and Acts, Denise challenges us to consider what being family actually looks like. How do we treat one another? How do we respond when someone is struggling, lonely or in need? Do we simply say, “I’ll pray for you,” or are we willing to stand alongside someone and pray with them? The early church gives us a powerful picture of people doing life together — sharing meals, praying, worshipping, supporting one another and sharing what they had. Denise encourages us to recover that sense of belonging, care and practical love. She also asks a challenging question: When people look at us, do they see something of our heavenly Father? Just as children often reflect characteristics of their earthly parents, our lives should increasingly reflect Jesus.     Andy Arscott: Taming the tongue

    In Taming the Tongue, guest speaker Andy Arscott looks at the power of our words and what they reveal about what is happening in our hearts. Drawing from Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 12 and James 3, Andy explores how “the mouth speaks what the heart is full of”. Our words can encourage, strengthen and bring life, but they can also wound, divide and destroy. James compares the tongue to a small rudder that can steer a large ship and a tiny spark that can set a whole forest on fire. Andy considers some of the ways our tongues can be used negatively – through complaining, gossip, criticism, boasting, anger, lying and hurtful speech. He points to the good news of the Gospel: lasting change begins not simply by trying to control our words, but by allowing God to transform our hearts. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, Christians are being changed to become more like Jesus. Andy explains the difference between justification – being made right with God through Christ – and sanctification, the ongoing process of becoming more like Jesus. When we fail, God’s response is not condemnation but loving conviction that leads us to repentance, forgiveness and growth. Andy encourages us to walk honestly with God, receive His grace and allow Him to heal and change the things within us that affect what comes out of our mouths.     Ola Dosunmu: Many people, one kingdom, one God

    What does it really mean to be a Christian? In ‘The Mark of a True Christian’, Ola Dosunmu of Jubilee Church Wirral looks at Romans 12:9-21, showing that the evidence of genuine faith is seen not simply in what we believe, but in how we live. After explaining God’s saving grace throughout the first eleven chapters of Romans, the Apostle Paul turns to the practical outworking of the gospel, revealing the characteristics that should mark every follower of Jesus. Ola explores three key marks of a true Christian: – The Sacrifice of Love: Christ’s sacrificial death gives believers a completely new identity. As we spend time with Jesus, the Holy Spirit continues His work of transforming us from the inside out. – The Sincerity of Love: Genuine faith produces genuine love. Christians are called to love without hypocrisy, honour one another, serve faithfully, show hospitality, persevere in prayer and live in peace with others. – The Forgiving Nature of Love: Rather than seeking revenge or repaying evil with evil, followers of Christ are called to bless those who oppose them, trust God with justice and overcome evil by doing good. The Christian life is not about outward religion but about allowing God’s love to shape every part of our lives. As we grow closer to Jesus, His character becomes increasingly visible through us.     Rick Robertson: A thousand bridges

    What if God has already placed countless “bridges” in our lives—connections with people who don’t yet know Jesus – and is inviting us to use those relationships to help them discover Him? Rick Robertson of Jubilee Church Wirral explores the picture of “a thousand bridges”: The many opportunities we have to demonstrate God’s love, share our faith and point people towards Jesus. At the heart of it all is Jesus Himself, the ultimate bridge who reconciles us to God and restores our relationship with Him. Rick shares stories of five people who each played a different part in his own journey to faith, showing how God can use our everyday lives, practical acts of kindness, invitations, our love for Jesus and even prophetic words to build bridges into the lives of others. He also looks at why we need the church community as we seek to reach people, and how the Holy Spirit gives us the power, courage and boldness to be effective witnesses. Vision gives us direction, brings unity, prevents us from drifting, and helps us focus our time and resources on what God is asking us to do. Our vision is: Jubilee Church – a Christ-centred church, making disciples, loving one another, and advancing the Kingdom of God. Dave unpacks each part of this vision, challenging us to put our faith into action rather than simply agreeing with good ideas. He also introduces six key values for this season: * Seeking God’s presence * Loving the Word and the Spirit * Declaring the Gospel * Being family together * Enjoying God’s grace * Demonstrating courageous faith Drawing from passages including Proverbs 29, Habakkuk 2, Matthew 28, John 13, Colossians 1, Hebrews 12, Matthew 6 and Matthew 16, Dave reminds us that our focus is not on building our own kingdom, but on seeking God’s Kingdom and joining in with what Jesus is already doing. We are called to be Christ-centred, to help one another grow as disciples, to love one another as a family, and to reach beyond ourselves so that the good news of Jesus continues to advance.     Chris Griffiths: The Procrastination Paradox

    Chris Griffiths of Jubilee Church Wirral challenges us to consider how procrastination can affect not just our everyday lives, but also our walk with God. We can easily put things off — waiting for a better time to pray, to obey, to serve, to step out in faith, or to respond to something God is asking us to do. But Scripture reminds us that “this is the day the Lord has made” and calls us to make the most of every opportunity. Chris explores three ways we can overcome the procrastination paradox: through Scripture, through the example of Jesus, and through one another. Looking at the urgency with which the disciples responded to Jesus’ call, and at people who reached out to Jesus in moments of need, we are reminded that responding to God today can change the direction of our lives. Whether you’re exploring faith, feeling spiritually stuck, or simply sensing God prompting you towards a new step, the challenge is the same: What is God asking you to do today?
