Gravity: Breaking Free From the Weight of Sin | Part 4 | Disordered Desire | Chris Voigt

Tell me what 'cha want, what ya really, really want... But... do you really know? In his 1941 essay titled, The Weight of Glory, author CS Lewis writes, "It would seem that our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered to us; like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased."  We're working our way through a series we’ve titled, Gravity: Breaking Free From the Weight of Sin. This week, we're looking at desire... a gift from God that has been deeply misunderstood in the Church. And as a result, we’ve learned to settle for and even pursue, that which is much less than God's best for our lives. Join us this Sunday at 11 AM as we begin our series on sin. You'll find us online by clicking the "Join Us Sunday" button on our website, or connect with us via our YouTube channel. Or come worship with us in person! Arrive early and enjoy coffee, cookies and conversation in the Lobby. We do know that 11 AM on Sunday doesn't work for everyone. If that's you, the service will be available on-demand, so you can watch at a time that works better for your schedule. We look forward to worshipping with you! ----------------------------------- TAKE YOUR NEXT STEP ----------------------------------- Let us know that you were watching with us and you will be entered to receive a free prize by completing our Connection Card: http://dsf.church/ecard   Give Online: https://www.simplechurchgiving.net/App/Giving/dsf Message Notes: https://www.dayspringfellowship.com/messages   Like, comment & subscribe to stay updated!   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dayspringkeizer Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DayspringKeizer YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/dayspringfellowship Website: http://dsf.church   #dayspringkeizer #dayspringfellowship #2026sermon ___________________ Thanks for watching Dayspring Fellowship's worship service! 2. Gravity: Breaking Free From the Weight of Sin | Part 3 | False Idols | Chris Voigt

Gravity: Breaking Free From the Weight of Sin | Part 3 | False Idols | Chris Voigt

If I were to ask you, “What’s the most important thing in your life?” many of you would tell me it’s your relationship with God. Good answer… at least it sounds good. But if I asked you to look at your calendar and tell me what your first priority is… the thing you give the most time, thought, and energy to… would it be something different? What really has first place in your heart and life? We're working our way through a series we’ve titled, Gravity: Breaking Free From the Weight of Sin. This week, we're looking at idols or false gods--the things we allow to have first place in our lives--to be more important than our relationship with God.  They can be difficult to identify, because  unlike a wood or stone idol, they're not always something you can touch. But that doesn't make them any less real or powerful. Join us this Sunday at 11 AM as we begin our series on sin. You'll find us online by clicking the "Join Us Sunday" button on our website, or connect with us via our YouTube channel. Or come worship with us in person! 3. Gravity: Breaking Free From the Weight of Sin | Part 2 | Hidden | Chris Voigt

Gravity: Breaking Free From the Weight of Sin | Part 2 | Hidden | Chris Voigt

It's one of the first games little kids learn to play. And oh.... the fun of squeezing into the perfect spot or finding just the right-sized thing to hide behind. And then, anticipating the moment that someone discovers where you are...  I see you! There is so much joy in being found!  But somewhere along the way, being found isn't what we're after. Something shifts and we begin to look for more sophisticated ways of hiding. Ways that keep others from seeing who we really are, even if things look good on the surface. We're in week 2 of a new series we’ve titled, Gravity: Breaking Free From the Weight of Sin. Over the next few weeks, we're looking deeper at the way sin impacts our lives. This week, we're looking at shame--the unseen but deeply felt force that drives us to hide who we are or what we've done, rather than risk being seen, fully known and truly loved. 4. Gravity: Breaking Free From the Weight of Sin | Part 1 | The Pull | Chris Voigt

    May 13

Gravity: Breaking Free From the Weight of Sin | Part 1 | The Pull | Chris Voigt

From the moment we are born, we’re subject to its power. It pulls on us with such strength and consistency that we hardly even notice it’s presence. It feels natural, normal, the way things are meant to be. Living free of it would feel… weird. And yet, we were created for freedom. Sin doesn’t just show up in big, obvious ways in our lives – it pulls on our hearts steadily, consistently, with such persistence that we’ve learned to live with it. This week we’re beginning an 8-week series we’ve titled, Gravity: Breaking Free From the Weight of Sin. We’ll explore how sin impacts every facet of our lives and discover that freedom is found not just in saying ‘no’ to bad behavior or crappy attitudes, but in learning to say ‘yes’ to Jesus. 5. Endurance | 2 Timothy | Part 4 | Faithful to the Finish | Chris Voigt

Endurance | 2 Timothy | Part 4 | Faithful to the Finish | Chris Voigt

"Have a good summer!" "Keep in touch." "Stay sweet!" "Good luck!"  Those were the standard yearbook farewell messages back in the day. As the last days of the school year approached, yearbooks would be passed among classmates, gathering signatures and well-wishes... marking the end of another chapter of life. This week, we're at the end of our series, Endurance, and Paul is penning the final words of his letter. He knows they'll be his last ones written. His words, colored with urgency, underscore that which matters most to his heart. This isn't a casual farewell message. These words capture the heartbeat of his life's mission.  Join us this Sunday at 11 AM as we wrap up our series in 2 Timothy. You'll find us online by clicking the "Join Us Sunday" button on our website, or connect with us via our YouTube channel. Or come worship with us in person! Endurance | 2 Timothy | Part 3 | Stand Firm in a Shifting World | Chris Voigt

The best Sunday School songs are the ones with hand motions... at least those were the ones I liked! Do you remember singing, "The wise man built his house upon the rock...? The best part of that song, at least from a kid's perspective was when the foolish man's house - which he built on the sand - went SPLAT!  We're in week 3 of our series, Endurance, and chapter 3 of 2 Timothy.  Paul knows this is his last letter. These are his last written words... to Timothy and to the churches he had established; his last opportunity to encourage and exhort, to point those he loves to what matters most. His message? Stand firm... be faithful... hold fast.  Paul knew - because he'd lived it - a life built on the solid foundation of God's Word will not be shaken. Join us this Sunday at 11 AM. Endurance | 2 Timothy | Part 2 | Endurance That Lasts | Michelle Snook

April 15, 1947. Yesterday, in ballparks all across the U.S., Jackie Robinson Day was celebrated. It was on that date, 79 years ago, that Jackie Robinson made his debut for the Brooklyn Dodgers, breaking the color barrier and forever changing not just baseball history, but American history.  Jackie's story is one of incredible endurance. Of pressing on, in the face of prejudice and discrimination, with both determination and grace. And today, the ripples of Jackie's determined endurance are felt throughout baseball and the world. This week, in our series, Endurance , we'll unpack Paul's exhortation to endure for the sake of the gospel. Paul is writing from prison, his own execution approaching... he knows about endurance. And he knows that Timothy (and we, too) will face suffering of one kind or another. I wonder... are we unknowingly impacted by the ripples of Timothy's faithful endurance in the face of suffering? And who, in generations to come, might be eternally changed by yours?  Join us this Sunday at 11 AM. You'll find us online by clicking the "Join Us Sunday" button on our website, or connect with us via our YouTube channel. Or come worship with us in person! Endurance | 2 Timothy | Part 1 | Hold the Lamb | Chris Voigt

We're beginning a new sermon series this Sunday that we've titled, Endurance. And once again, we're diving into another of Paul's letters. It's his second to his protege, Timothy. But this time, the tone is different. Second Timothy is the most personal of Paul's letters. Likely the last he ever wrote, there is an urgency in Paul's voice. He knows he is nearing the end of his earthly race, and like a relay runner pushing to securely pass the baton, Paul is pressing forward to ensure he completes the handoff - determined to pass on that which is of utmost importance. Join us this Sunday at 11 AM. You'll find us online by clicking the "Join Us Sunday" button on our website, or connect with us via our YouTube channel. Or come worship with us in person!
