I was really enjoying this podcast to fill gaps in my historical knowledge until I came to a discussion of something I already do know quite a bit about and they were spectacularly wrong. In the English History episode, the expert confidently asserts that Thomas More, Henry VIII’s close advisor, was a Lutheran who, along with the other Lutheran, Cromwell, had designs to separate Henry from the Church in Rome. Anyone who knows More knows that he, as a faithful Catholic, was martyred for NOT going along with Henry’s plan to be the head of the Church in England. That the “expert” could be so blatantly wrong about a basic fact of the English Reformation makes me question the accuracy of everything else that he says of which I know less about.
