620 - New guitar day, Seymour Duncan's Telecaster, and the story that just won't quit...

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 620 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - New guitar day, Seymour Duncan's Telecaster, and the story that just won't quit... We cannot avoid a further dip into the Fender C&D shenanigans as a rather famous name in the guitar world comes firmly into the crosshairs of their crack legal team despite our previous baseless conjecture. Brian suggests that the fairest way to sort this out is the old-fashioned way - wrestling. Richard confuses pounds and ounces. Richard has acquired a new guitar - well, he made a trade - and it was not any of the guitars he was expecting to buy, but he is super happy. He also manages to influence both of his co-hosts and Brian goes off on an internet adventure. Richard has pedal news too. Have you ever had a guitar refinished? The guys discuss why this may or may not be a great idea. A new guitar bag has come out with a unique pedalboard-friendly feature and the guys discuss it. JHS have released a new pedal and it causes a disturbance in the force, whereas Meris have invoked robots in disguise. A Very Small Portion, Dog Collar Guitar Straps, NFT Chimps, D20 Air Rifle Stocks, The Intel Crentium, Spitty Fuzz...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! We are on Patreon now too! 619 - 40 Watts of Fender dilemma and do you have to be rich to start a band?

Brian and Richard are joined by Phillip Carter of the 40 Watt Podcast for Episode 619 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - 40 Watts of Fender dilemma and do you have to be rich to start a band? Blake has caught a dose of the quattro formaggi quickstep and so we have the mighty Phillip Carter of the 40 Watt Podcast stepping into his cubic shoes for this episode. What an episode it proves to be... There can be only one starting point and that is the Fender legal issue that continues to rumble on and is proving to be a bit of a PR minefield. But first - soccer. Brian is somewhat relieved to discover the Fender legal letters don't extend to Telecasters but that doesn't mean this isn't a subject worthy of discussion. All of the great and good of the guitar YouTube world have had to make a video that "they really didn't want to make". But this is a serious issue and we have questions and suggestions. Some of those may not be sensible or serious, actually, now I come to think about it. There is a lot of wild speculation too. There has been some interesting new UFO footage that was evidently filmed on a 3-pixel camera and the guys discuss how disappointed they may or may not be. Brian admits he has got his own weird things. Is it only possible these days to make it big in the music business if you have a rich family? The guys ponder this. Huge thanks to Phillip Carter for joining us this week and huge thanks to you for listening! The Mighty Arsenal, But Is It Art?, Warlock Pedals, Saucy Pickups, Street Legal Side-by-Sides, 6 Degrees of David Gilmour... it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! We are on Patreon now too! 618 - The all new Fender agenda and will the real Josh Scott please stand up?

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 618 of the Chasing Tone Podcast -  The all new Fender agenda and will the real Josh Scott please stand up? Brian has got some things to say about AI slop following a great reaction video from Josh Scott of JHS which resulted in him surveying some fluffy junk from the dark recesses of a random YouTube channel. It's an interesting debate as the guys have strong views about the source video, its complete lack of reliable facts, and the damage it could do.  Meanwhile, Blake brings up one of the hottest topics of the week - Fender's current legal positioning on the copyright of the Stratocaster body. The guys have views on it but fear that this might backfire on Fender and discuss the ramifications. Richard makes terrible analogies and spreads a lie. Brian squaremarks his radius. Richard has some interactions with a beautiful SG guitar and its famous owner, rewriting the rules. PRS have released a new special edition and the endorsee has surprised the guys a bit. There is some tongue twisting as the guys attempt to say a common guitar word. The D*ckhead fallacy, Bullshine returns, The Chasing Tone Shoehorn award, The Art of the Stombox, Pac Man...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! We are on Patreon now too! 617 - The maple-topped Martin Dragnet, Hellbent for Denim, and songs of death in the key of A

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 617 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - The maple-topped Martin Dragnet, Hellbent for Denim, and songs of death in the key of A We come in banging with some definitions from the old country and you will need to hang on to your hat as it gets wild pretty quick. Must've been something in the water. Friend of the show Mr. Henning Pauly put out a new video and it made Richard stop and think about the nature of social media usage. Somehow this turns into strap preferences and strap-lock woes. Brian knows a thing or two about this. Marshall has released a premium Hendrix Amp and Fuzz Face package and it caught Richard's eye, so the guys discuss it. Brian has bought a new amp and it fooled the guys, so he tells us about it. JHS has brought out some interesting new 3 series pedals and it shifts to a discussion about pedals that inspire but don't always stay on your board permanently - despite being amazing. What was the last song you listened to? Blake invents analog playlists and Brian is disappointed by the lack of Brent Mason, so Richard asks the question. There was a big moment in UFO/UAP disclosure this week and the guys wonder if this is all part of the plan... Framebook, The Wampler Cuff, BrIrn Bru, Golden Girls, Heaty jets... it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! We are on Patreon now too! 616 - Taste the Pain with special guest Michael Beinhorn - a look into the production of some absolutely massive albums

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 616 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Taste the Pain with special guest Michael Beinhorn - a look into the production of some absolutely massive albums  The guys are joined by a true legend of the production world, Michael Beinhorn, who has produced some of the greatest records of all time. We are talking Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Hole, Marilyn Manson, Korn, and we are talking Herbie Hancock too! We start at the beginning and find out what the third most used sound in recorded music history is... and Michael came up with it. Brian and Richard can't resist fanboying a little and so the conversation moved on to Superunknown by Soundgarden, which was a defining album for all the guys' musical tastes. This is a fascinating look into the stories behind the scenes and Michael's own personal perspective which made him one of the most in-demand record producers of a generation. Michael's philosophy for making records translates into some fantastic advice for nearly everyone... Michael has written a book, Taste the Pain - The Making of The Red Hot Chili Peppers' Mother's Milk, which starts out with a tragedy and gives an incredibly candid view of how the band survived the challenges thrown their way. He gives us some fascinating insights into the band, the recording process, and music production in general. Finally, the guys look at the making of Hole's "Celebrity Skin" with no punches pulled. This is a fascinating and compelling episode, and we would like to say a huge thanks to Michael for his time and his candid storytelling! Electro phases, Seattle Grunge, Black Hole Sun, Chad Smith's Posterior, Kornhole...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! 615 - Random amp joy, the great Kindle swindle, and Telecaster heresy

Blake and Richard are back for Episode 615 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Random amp joy, the great Kindle swindle, and Telecaster heresy Brian is somewhat unexpectedly out of town on business so Blake and Richard take the helm - apologies for the different music and the quality of the hosts. Richard got to play his first real amp when he found the same model he had as a kid in a recording studio. It did not cure his GAS and he stakes a claim to being one of the most professional mediocre guitarists ever.  Despite Brian's absence this week, the AI train rumbles on... Josh Scott from JHS has been testing the limits of AI and the results were a bit baffling so the guys discuss it and some other AI pushbacks and issues they have seen. Meanwhile, Blake gets a lesson in Crusties and reveals a mystery package sent from Martinsville. NUX have released a new modelling solution that caught Richard's eye for a unique feature that he likes. The guys also have a look at the controversy that surrounded a very sad announcement from a young player and the ripples it sent into the gear world. Blake has big Radiohead news. Community Microphones, The Gaslight Anthem, Chumbawamba, Neil Young, Rich and the Daddy cans... it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! We are on Patreon now too! 614 - Are two heads better than one? The great stereo amp debate and the magic number of knobs!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 614 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Are two heads better than one? The great stereo amp debate and the magic number of knobs! Brian opens up with some multilingual greetings while Richard and Blake have some serpentine interactions. The guys talk about a new Strymon fuzz pedal, and Blake tells us about a dealer's event he went to at NAMM where leakage was discussed. Would you pay for a pedal with a subscription element? Brian has plans. Richard digs himself a massive hole accidentally when he talks about a new Marshall product. He also questions the concept of the true stereo amplifier head with the guys, and they discuss various models on the market. Synergy released a new JCM 800 module which impressed Richard, and Brian confesses he has one coming to him. What was your earliest musical memory? The guys trade stories and Brian is dismissive of a British band. Random Speculation, The Sex Pistols, Inappropriate Jazz, Happy Magic Trees, Safety Nuts...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! 613 - Who is the world's smallest pedal builder, and has Blake finally submitted to the dark side?

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 613 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - who is the world's smallest pedal builder, and has Blake finally submitted to the dark side?  We open with a tribute from Brian and some sausage recommendations, and there is a bit of bro-love as we look at the hot topics in the guitar world this week. There was some sad news in the gear world, and it has led Richard into some new GAS for a classic amplifier. Ross Pedals has relaunched - again - and the guys dig into what is going on without any form of expertise but a lot of enthusiasm. The Guitar Geek released a video about what may be the ultimate tremolo system for Brian, and he is audibly excited before the podcast takes a dark turn. Fender has made a branding move with new interfaces which Richard thinks is a home run, so the guys discuss it. Meanwhile Brian has been "Glamping" and breaks down his recent expedition. Guitar Center is looking to build their own guitars and the guys debate what this might mean. Blake has acquired a modeler and Richard is the cosmic donkey. Bri humor, Ibanez, Dog scat, spoons, Logan Paul's UFO disclosure... it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! We are on Patreon now too!
