    God's Sovereignty in Scripture | Faith That Endures

    A short devotional on God's sovereignty based on this week's lectionary readings: Amos 3, Psalm 139, Matthew 4, and 1 Corinthians 1.Amos 3: "Can two walk together unless they be agreed?" Nothing happens by chance, everything occurs by God's decree. God is sovereign over all creation and history.Psalm 139: God is sovereign over your life personally. He knit you together, knows every word before you speak, every thought before you think it.Matthew 4: Jesus begins His ministry exactly when and where prophesied. God chose His first disciples, Peter, Andrew, James, John, and He continues to choose His disciples today. He chose YOU.1 Corinthians 1: The gospel doesn't depend on your eloquence or training. Its power is in CHRIST, not in you. You're already prepared to share the gospel right now.God's sovereign grace chose you. The outcome rests on Him, not you.     Christ's Mission Not Ours | World Without End

    Back to Acts after Advent & Christmas! Acts 13 picks up with Barnabas and Saul being sent out on their first missionary journey—not by the church, but by the Holy Spirit. We see worship and service unified. We see the laying on of hands. We see a bittersweet sending—joyful but sad to see brothers leave. Most importantly, we see that this is CHRIST'S mission, not ours. Along the way, Paul confronts Bar-Jesus, a false prophet and magician who opposed the gospel. God strikes him blind. Some ask: "Isn't that unfair?" Wrong question. The right question is: "Why didn't God do ME like He did Bar-Jesus?" It's easy to forget what we DESERVE versus what we've RECEIVED. We've received mercy. Grace. We once worked against the gospel too—but by the power of the Holy Spirit, we've been grafted in. We live on mission because we serve a MISSIONAL GOD. From Genesis 3 forward, God has been running TO us while we run away. Our God CAME to us.     Why was Jesus baptized? | Epiphany 2026

    Epiphany Sunday: The Baptism of Jesus from Matthew 3:13-17. Why would the sinless Son of God submit to a baptism of repentance? John the Baptist resists: "I need to be baptized by YOU. Why are you coming to ME?" But Jesus insists: "Let it be so now, for it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. "At His baptism, we witness the Trinity in full display: The Son is baptized, the Spirit descends like a dove, and the Father declares from heaven: "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." Jesus didn't need baptism for Himself—He did it for US. He chose to identify with sinners. His entire life was active obedience to the law we couldn't keep. At His baptism, before He performed a single miracle, preached a sermon, or called a disciple, the Father was already pleased with Him. Here's the gospel: The same words spoken over Jesus are true for YOU. You are God's beloved son or daughter.     The Boy Jesus | Christmastide

    Second Sunday of Christmas: The Boy Jesus at the Temple from Luke 2:41-52. This isn't the manger scene, it's 12 years later when Jesus' family loses Him at the Passover feast.Mary and Joseph panic. They lost GOD IN THE FLESH. They had one job: raise Him so He could accomplish the unthinkable. And they LOST Him. Three days later, they find their 12-year-old boy in the temple courts, not playing with kids, but hanging out with the PhDs, the religious leaders, talking theology. He's not learning from them, He's TEACHING them by listening and asking questions. They were amazed at His understanding.When Mary says "Why did you do this to us?" Jesus responds: "Did you not know I must be in My Father's house?" Even at 12, Jesus was fully aware of His calling and purpose.This is Jesus, fully God and fully man. The ultimate Passover Lamb celebrating Passover, already teaching the brilliant minds who would one day condemn Him.     Christmastide | Freedom In Christ at Christmas

    First Sunday of Christmas: What's the theology of Christmas? It's right here in Galatians 4:4-7. When the fullness of time came, God sent His Son, not as an example, but to REDEEM us. Born of a woman, born under the law, to free us from the law's curse. The law exposes our sin but can't fix it. We need Christ's righteousness, His perfect life, death, burial, and resurrection done FOR us and IN our place.But redemption isn't the end. God didn't just free us from slavery, He ADOPTED us as sons. You're an heir with Christ. No longer a slave, but family.     Waiting For The King of Glory

    The Return of the King concludes with Psalm 24, a liturgical song sung as King David brought the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem. But this isn't just ancient history. It's a prophetic shadow pointing to Christ's ascension and ultimate return. Who is worthy to ascend the hill of the Lord? Only one: Jesus Christ. He alone has clean hands, a pure heart, and has never lifted His soul to false idols. He is the King of Glory, mighty in battle, victorious over sin and death. This Psalm was sung during Israel's worship, celebrating God's presence dwelling among His people through the Ark. But Jesus IS the Ark, Emmanuel, God with us. He ascended to the right hand of the Father and will return as our conquering King. Until that day, we don't just wait, we LIVE as His family. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we love God vertically and love others horizontally. We've been declared righteous not by our merit, but by His. The King has gone before us.     Life in The Light of Christ's Return | Advent

    Week 3 of Advent: Gaudete Sunday - the Sunday of JOY. For nearly 2,000 years, the Church has taught believers to anticipate Christ's return with hope, peace, joy, and love, NOT fear. Yet modern evangelicalism has turned eschatology into a source of anxiety rather than celebration. Isaiah 35 paints a stunning picture of what's coming: the wilderness will rejoice, the desert will blossom, blind eyes will open, deaf ears will hear, the lame will leap like deer. This isn't about escaping earth, it's about Christ renewing it. When Jesus returns, everything will be made right and made new. The joy will never end. The peace will never cease. Sorrow and sighing will flee away. Stop fearing the Antichrist and start preparing for Christ. Stop looking for the mark of the beast and start celebrating the mark of the Lamb.     Week 2 of Advent: "The Return of the King." As we wait for Christ's second coming, how should we live together as the Church? Romans 15 reveals Paul's surprising answer: it's not about deep spiritual disciplines or personal practices, it's about HOW WE LOVE EACH OTHER.KEY MESSAGES:- Paul's prayer: May God fill you with all joy, peace, and hope as you endure.- What could you endure if you knew you'd be supernaturally filled with joy and peace along the way?- The "therefore" of Romans 12: Don't think more highly of yourself, love one another.- Paul's focus isn't on personal spirituality, it's on Christian relationships.- We who are strong must bear with the failings of the weak (and not please ourselves).- Don't make mountains out of molehills, distinguish preferences from primary issues.Welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you (for the glory of God)📖 MAIN SCRIPTURE: Romans 15:1-13, Romans 12:1-2, Romans 13:11-14THE LITURGY LESSON: Ever wondered WHY our church service is structured the way it is?
