Show hosts and Jan:
For years, Jan, I have listened and supported you because your shows were relevant to the current world events, highly researched, simple to understand, 5 star level. I hold a M. Ed in Curriculum Development, English, History, Bible. We must consider the audience to whom we are speaking. This week's pod was great for a group of theologians. But, the subject matter was a bit too overwhelming for the non-ministerial listener. You may start losing your audience/support. The average listener does not want a hermeneutical exposition. People want straight-forward facts and relevant answers to what is going on TODAY, all around us.
Jan, it is hard to see you retire, but it happens to everyone. I don't want to seem critical to the pastors you have as speakers; I am sure they are fine, learned men/women. But, as I said, at the end of the day when we are listening to your pod, please remember you are not speaking to a class of Bible students in seminary. While you are excited about your subjects, others may have no clue what you are speaking about, and they will just turn off your pod. I refer to people like my 17 yr old grandson. I always say that, when you are speaking, make sure that you speak on a level where even a 12 year old can understand your points. My husband is an ordained minister, and we have pastored several years and pioneered a church near St Louis. I don't want to lose touch with Olive Tree. However, please don't change the format of your pod to reach theologians only--that would be a huge mistake.
Best Regards
Carol
