    “Faith Under Pressure” 1 Thessalonians 2v9-16 [11th Oct 2026]

Bible teaching by Alex Vaca on the 11th October 2026. TEACHING NOTES: Main truth: God’s gospel changes how we live, and his Word strengthens us to remain faithful when following Jesus becomes costly. 1. Let your life support your message - verses 9 to10 • Paul reminds the believers of his hard work and sacrificial care. They had witnessed his conduct firsthand. 2. Help one another live for God - verses 11to12 • Paul cared for each believer as a father cares for his children. • He encouraged the weary, instructed those who needed direction and urged them to take obedience seriously. • Walking “worthy of God” means living in a way that reflects our belonging to him. God calls us into his kingdom and glory. Our future with him shapes our choices today. 3. Welcome God’s Word and respond to it - verse 13 • The Thessalonians received the apostolic gospel as God’s Word. • Hearing the truth calls for a response of faith and obedience. • God’s Word continues working in those who believe, exposing sin, strengthening faith and changing lives. 4. Remain faithful when obedience becomes costly - verse 14 • Opposition did not mean that God had abandoned them. They belonged to a wider family of suffering believers. • Remember your King. His faithfulness gives you courage when others misunderstand or reject your obedience. 5. Take God’s patience and judgment seriously - verses 15 to16 • Paul condemns those persecuting God’s messengers and obstructing the gospel. He does not assign guilt to every Jewish person. • Persistent resistance brings judgment. God’s patience must never be mistaken for indifference.

    “Scars, Courage, and a Shepherd’s Heart” 1 Thessalonians 2 v1-8 [4th Oct 2026]

Bible teaching by Alex Vaca on the 4th October 2026. TEACHING NOTES: 1. Remember what God has done - verse 1 - They had received God’s Word, turned from idols, and begun waiting for Jesus (1 Thess. 1:6–10). - When doubts arise, remember God’s faithfulness and return to the truth of the gospel. 2. Find your courage in God - verse 2 - Paul and Silas had suffered humiliation, beating, and imprisonment in Philippi (Acts 16:22–24). Yet they continued proclaiming Christ in Thessalonica. - Their boldness came from God. Opposition was real, but it did not silence them. 3. Keep the gospel faithful and your motives pure — verses 3-4 - Paul’s message was free from error, corrupt motives, and deception. - God had entrusted him with the gospel; his responsibility was to proclaim it faithfully. - Our desire to see people come to Christ must never lead us to compromise the message they need to hear. 4. Live for God’s approval — verses 4-6 - God sees beyond our words and actions: he examines our hearts. - Paul rejected flattery, concealed greed, and the pursuit of personal glory. 5. Share the gospel—and your life — verses 7-8 - Paul cared for the believers with the tenderness of a nursing mother. - His courage in preaching was accompanied by patience, affection, and gentleness. Remember: We serve the Saviour who gave himself for us. His grace frees us to speak faithfully and love generously, even when nobody applauds.

“When the Gospel Takes Hold of a City” 1 Thessalonians 1 v4-10 [27th Sept 2026]

Bible teaching by Alex Vaca on the 27th September 2026. TEACHING NOTES: Background Thessalonica was a prosperous and influential city filled with idols, competing religions, political pressure, and loyalty to Caesar. After Paul preached that Jesus was the risen Christ, some believed- but opposition quickly followed. Jason and other believers were dragged before the authorities and accused of serving “another king, Jesus” (Acts 17:1–9). Despite persecution, this young church remained faithful and became an example to believers throughout the region. 1. The Gospel assures us that we are loved by God - “Brothers loved by God…he has chosen you.” Verse 4 2. The Gospel comes with transforming power - “Our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit.” Verse 5 3. The Gospel produces joy during affliction - “You received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit.” Verse 6 4. The Gospel makes believers examples to others - “You became an example to all the believers.” Verse 7 5. The Gospel cannot remain silent - “The word of the Lord sounded forth from you.” Verse 8 6. The Gospel turns us from idols towards service - “You turned to God from idols… To serve the living and true God.” Verse 9 8. The Gospel teaches us to wait for Jesus - “To wait for his Son from heaven.” Verse 10 9. Jesus delivers us from the coming wrath - “Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.” Verse 10 We turn from idols, serve the living God, and wait expectantly for Jesus.
