Loving the Fire with Deborah Santana

How do you rise up and claim your life after being married to a rockstar? This week, my conversation is with Carlos Santana’s ex-wife, the sensational Deborah Santana. We discuss her life and her upcoming memoir, Loving the Fire: Choosing Me, Finding Freedom (April 21, 2026), a powerful story of rebirth and epiphany following the end of her 34-year marriage to Carlos Santana.  Deborah writes about healing from years of infidelity and reclaiming her identity. She shares her rebirth—returning to college, mentoring girls, raising children after divorce, deepening her spiritual practice, and finding purpose by championing causes to uplift women, dismantle racism, and end violence. From her biracial childhood to life at the center of rock-and-roll history, Santana reveals not only the glamour and excess of that world but also the deeper truth: the human spirit’s power to endure, to heal, and ultimately, to prevail.  Deborah Santana is an author, business manager, and activist for peace and social justice. Her non-profit, Do A Little, serves women and girls in the areas of health, education, and happiness. With a passion to provide educational opportunities for girls and women, Ms. Santana collaborates with organizations that work to prevent and heal relationship and sexual violence, improve the lives of America's abused and neglected children, and a worldwide community of artists and allies who work for empowerment, opportunity, and visibility for women artists.
