We Could Have Done Without This Bad Fan Fiction...

Welcome back! 2023's new season comes with something a little different - this season Esha and Kristen are opening up the mic to other voices.

We're closing out BHM with a chat about every black person's nightmare - traveling back in time and winding up on a slave plantation. Joining us in our discussion of the tv adaptation of Octavia E. (Put some respect on her name!) Butler's Kindred, are Lindsay + Kenya B (tiktok @kekebeautybooks). We just want to say, for those who watched the show before reading the book - don't let this detour you from reading Butler's work.

Indigenous Futurism: They Are Not Ghosts?

Indigenous Futurism: They Are Not Ghosts?

The best part about not knowing - is that there is a wealth of wonder and new knowledge, if you are open and willing to do a little work.

We're chatting about Indigenous and First Nations representation in books, film and television. What little we do know of and our exposure to seeing them from childhood to now. “The only way I know who I am and who my community is, and the ways in which we survive and adapt, is through stories.” - Cherie Dimaline

Shut up & let me gaslight you!

Did you ever wonder about the first onscreen portrayals of black women? Did you know they were by white men? Ever since, their stereotypical depictions have continued to serve as the foundation for how people see and think of black women in (western) media. Never fear! Black sheroes have continued to challenge and change these ideas with their creativity within all forms of media. Whether this is new to you or you've been there and heard it all before, join Kristen and Esha as they discuss Black Women's representation in Hollywood.

Umilikechipss ,

I Loove this podcast!!!!

Hey gorgeous ppl reading this... this podcast is awesome. Eisha and Kris are so funny and smart. I love horror and Sci-fi and I came over here from the losers club (Eisha is one of my favorites on that show) I love the break down of complex important issues involving race or the lack of diversity in my favorite genres. IM SO HAPPY I have this as a resource to find new and interesting writing that is not as main stream. Thank you ladies! Keep up the great work!!! 💜✨🦋💕😎
