    Influence This | Episode 22: Joey Weamer

    Joey Weamer is a fifth-generation Montanan whose life has always revolved around snow. From skiing and snowboarding to pow surfing and snowmobiling, if it slides, Joey has probably spent time on it. For decades, Joey has worked throughout the outdoor industry, representing brands including WNDR Alpine, Opolis Optics, and Beringia Outerwear, while also making Cooke City his home and building a career as a backcountry ski guide, avalanche educator, and search and rescue volunteer. He's passionate about sharing powder days, teaching safe backcountry travel, and helping others develop a deeper respect for Montana's mountains. Away from the mountains, Joey is a proud father and grandfather, a role that's at the heart of the new short film Bonded, which explores the connection between family, guiding, and a lifetime spent in Montana's backcountry. Most recently, Joey partnered with longtime friend and professional skier Pep Fujas to launch a new marketing and branding venture focused on helping authentic outdoor brands tell their stories. With decades of experience in both the outdoor industry and the backcountry, Joey brings a unique perspective on skiing, business, family, and what it means to build a life around the mountains.

    Montucky Cold Snacks, a Bozeman, Montana-based light lager, was founded in 2012 by Jeremy Gregory and Chad Zietner, with the goal of creating a refreshing, fun, and irreverent beer that celebrates a fun, active lifestyle while giving back to local communities. Montucky pledges to give back 8% of its profits to local causes around the country. During this episode We talk origin story, a little history behind some of their graphic design, a funny lesson in truck driving and "dead-heading", and some other great laughs along the way.

Their films serve as a reminder that the essence of skiing is simple: it's all about having fun. We discuss their upcoming film, the film festival TREW to You, and share some hilarious stories from their dorm days at Montana State University.     Influence This | Episode 19: Josh Seckinger

    Josh Seckinger is running for the Montana House of Representatives, District 62, for the second time. Fifteen years ago, he made the leap to Montana, leaving behind his Florida roots and Wisconsin upbringing. At 23, he settled in the Gallatin Valley and has since taken on a variety of roles, from seismic mapping and food delivery to working for an environmental lawyer. For the past five years, he's been a fly-fishing guide, navigating some of Montana's most treasured waters, including the Gallatin, Smith, Madison, and Yellowstone rivers. Frequent travels and a passion for the outdoors have deepened his understanding of Montana, while his engaging and extroverted personality has helped him connect with its people. Through years of talking, listening, and engaging with the folks of Big Sky Country, Josh has gained a unique perspective on life in Montana and the needs of everyday working Montanans. One thing is clear to him: Montanans are dedicated to ensuring that the last best place remains just that—last and best.

    Jack Price is a 24-year-old freelance filmmaker, producer and editor from Bozeman, Montana. Jack has been intertwining his love for skiing and filmmaking since his early years of competing in slopestyle events and traveling the world in search of snow. Currently, he serves as the creator and director of Entourage, a Bozeman-based ski crew, and has recently expanded his work to include projects with major industry brands. Jack is known for bringing a unique style to his filmmaking, characterized by an experimental, well-paced, surreal, and deeply authentic approach. He is always eager to discuss creativity and surrounds himself with a crew of passionate individuals.

    Influence This | Episode 17: Jeff Johnson

    Jeff Johnson is a renowned filmer, photographer, and writer known for his captivating storytelling and adventurous spirit. Jeff has captured the essence of exploration and adventure through his lens, working on numerous high-profile projects for major brands and publications. His work often delves into themes of nature, travel, and the human experience, reflecting his passion for the outdoors and his keen eye for detail. Jeff's unique perspective and ability to convey powerful narratives have earned him a respected place in the creative and outdoor community community. As a versatile photographer, director, and writer, Jeff Johnson has helmed projects for some of the most prominent brands in the outdoor industry. He has a DIY punk attitude shows in his  editorial work which has graced the pages of The Wall Street Journal, At Large, The Surfer's Journal, Alpinist, and Outside. One of his many notable achievements is co-directing the acclaimed film Beyond Sunset (Mountainfilm 2022), which documents professional surfer Emi Erickson as she conquers 10 to 20-foot waves in some of the world's most unforgiving waters.     Influence This | Episode 16: Shannon Waters

    A former chef, restaurant consultant, and culinary school professor, Shannon Waters has spent a lot of time in kitchens. Formally trained at The French Culinary Institute in New York, she went on to hold positions at some of the best restaurants in the country and gain skills and technique from renowned Chefs. Her love of cooking and the outdoors collided when she packed a heavy cast iron pan into the backcountry. That's when she realized that if she was going to enjoy a great adventure and a great meal, she was going to have to find a solution for packable meals. That's how her company, Gastro Gnome got its start.  Shannon has taught at Montana State University and Gallatin College both in the Culinary and Hospitality fields and holds a Master's Certificate from Cornell University in Restaurant Management. Shannon now eats a lot of really dry food in far flung places accessible by packable boat, mountain bike, or skis. When she's not out there, she's raising her 8 month old daughter and eating plenty of Cheerios.

    Influence This | Episode 15: Benjamin Sears

    Benjamin Sears began practicing Yoga in 2001 to address serious back and knee injuries, and stuck around because the practice gave him a safe-haven to process a great loss. In 2017, Yoga Journal called him a "master." He doesn't buy it, but is grateful for the kind words. In 2007, Sears founded the LUXYOGA retreat in the South of France, an experience featured in Esquire, Yoga Journal, Vogue, the New York Times Magazine, and more. His newest project, The Bozeman House, is a 20-acre ranch in majestic Montana - a cozy-luxury escape for family-sized gatherings hopefully open for you to visit in 2024. Sears conducts seminars worldwide, mentors yoga teachers, and leads acclaimed 200, 300 and 500 hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher training programs. Sears believes in empowering students to make their own realizations with material that transcends dogma.He has a B.A. from UCLA and certifications in Katonah, Bikram, Forrest, Dharma Mittra Yoga, and Functional Range Conditioning, as well as studies within the Ido Portal Method, Ashtanga Yoga, Mindfulness Meditation, Wim Hoff Breathwork, The Oxygen Advantage, and Marma Ayurveda. He teaches an ever-evolving integration of Yoga, mobility science, breath-work, and meditation, and is renowned for connecting the dots with clarity and humor.
