Welcome to the Inner Compass Podcast.

The process of creating this podcast allowed for us to more deeply heal and alchemize our experiences, and the wounding that came from a life within a high demand religion (the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints / Mormonism). This is a true offering from our hearts, and an honoring of our lived experience.

From the time we were children we were conditioned to outsource our own authority and intuition to the men who presided over us. We were taught the value of free agency and personal revelation, but only if it matched the church’s teachings. This left us disempowered and disconnected from our own innate knowing and power. We were taught that obedience is the crowning virtue. This left us vulnerable to manipulation and control in relationships and from our priesthood authorities.

Eventually the confusion and heartache that came from our own inner knowing was not matching what the church taught, led to our faith expansion and unraveling of a lifelong belief system. Feeling and knowing our own hearts to be pure and good finally led us to make a choice. When our own inner voice and knowing are saying one thing and the church is saying another, which do we follow?

In each episode we will take you on our individual and collective journey to answer this question. Join us each week to listen to our unique and somehow universal experiences, and how in the end we listened to our own inner compass and turned our wounds into wisdom.

    Turning our Wounds into Wisdom

This episode is a continuation of our individual faith expansions. As we each move forward in our lives outside of Mormonism, with each new nugget of understanding, we find peace and the insatiable desire to learn more, as we have realized how small our view has been. Rising From The Ashes

Beautiful vulnerability

I moved in around the corner from these three ladies when they were going through this situation and watched from the sidelines. I just want to say that I am so proud of them for coming forward and speaking their truth! I am honestly shocked that this happened and that they were treated so terribly. This should have never happened by people who claim to be followers of Jesus Christ. I have loved listening to their podcast! They have so much wisdom to share about things that are difficult to understand about our faith tradition. They have been able to articulate and put into words many of the feelings I’ve had that don’t sit right with my soul. Thank you so much for your vulnerability and the beautiful way you’ve shared your stories and insights with us.

Understood

All three of you are so amazing. I am at this stage in my life. I feel free and happy but… Confused on what’s next and how I navigate eventually sharing with family and friends that I have left the church. I have so much trauma and anger from the church leaders throughout my life that I need to deal with that somehow. I just love hearing your beautiful voices and connecting with you every Wednesday. You guys give so much insight and I feel so understood. Thank you thank you thank you. I can’t wait to, listen next week.

Eye opening

I was in the same ward with these women prior to all of this happening. I was close in age to all of their children and I’m so grateful I was able to know them. I can honestly say that all of these women are incredible. I have loved the podcast as I have also since left the church and have loved hearing their perspectives. It’s been so eye opening and having comfort in knowing that you are not alone in your faith transition. I truly believe the church teaches good thing but there are a lot of things they fall short on and I’m glad that is being brought to light. I’m so proud of them for speaking up and being honest and vulnerable!
