  2. Ep. 329: Covers From Beyond!!! - Tributes To David Bowie

    APR 10

Ep. 329: Covers From Beyond!!! - Tributes To David Bowie

This week, we are welcoming home the astronauts by playing songs written by the star man himself: David Bowie! What better way to celebrate our mission to the moon than by hearing other bands cover his varied tunes. The Thin White Duke was a rock n’ roll chameleon who influenced music, film, and fashion for over 50 years. Considered one of the most influential artists of all time, he was the most underground mainstream artist, creating the blueprint for many to follow. Hope we freak you out and that ya dig! What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show, Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection: an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. Robert is forced to test his endurance and provide feedback, as he has no idea what he will be subjected to every week. Our hope is that we turn you on to something that was lost on your ears, or something you've simply forgotten about, or that (in our opinion) should have been the next big thing. Songs this week include: The Get Up Kids – “Sufragette City (David Bowie)” from Eudora (2001) Infectious Grooves – “Fame (David Bowie)” from Sarsippius’ Ark (1993)  Small Town Titans – “Heroes (David Bowie)” from Heroes - Single (2026) Bauhaus – “Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie)” from Ziggy Stardust - Single (1982) Contraband – “Hang On To Yourself (David Bowie)” from Contraband (1991) DREAMCAR – “Moonage Daydream (David Bowie)” from Dream - EP (2024) Enuff Z’Nuff – “The Jene Genie (David Bowie)” from 10 (2000) Classless Act – “Starman (David Bowie)” from Classless Act Does Bowie - Single (2023) Saigon Kick – “Space Oddity (David Bowie)” from Water (1993) Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts! Ep. 328: Degrees Of Separation... HENRY ROLLINS

This week is lucky #13 of our series called “Degrees Of Separation…” where we discuss side projects and solo releases from artists we love. This episode focuses on the mega-intense, stage-stalking, heavy-throated, part-animal, part-machine literary punk rock icon: HENRY ROLLINS! Kevin’s appreciation and fandom of old Hank goes all the way back to his rock n’ roll beginnings! If you only know him as that red guy screaming Liar in that '90s video, or as the dude that is on every rockumentary, we hope we turn you on to something new. Search & destroy!!! New to InObscuria? It’s all about digging up obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal from one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. While we may be talking about an artist that many of you know in this episode, perhaps you are not aware of the depth of his work and collabs from the early 80s to the 2000s. Hope ya dig! MAR 27

Ep. 327: 90's Rock n' Punk n' Metal Time Capsule

This week, we went out to the Firehouse backyard and dug up a time capsule from the decade when your two humble hosts met and decided to form their first band together: the sometimes amazing, sometimes confusing 1990s. The capsule revealed a collection of tunes spanning rock, punk, and metal. Robert was forced to test his endurance of the macabre and provided feedback that only Captain Content could. And all for your listening pleasure! What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show, Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection: an artist, album, or collection of tunes of rock, punk, and metal. This week, we talk exclusively about the 1990s and all things: grunge, alternative, goth, punk, hard rock, and everything in between. We hope that we turn you on to something new. Songs this week include: Sugartooth – “Frisbee” from The Sounds Of Solid (1996) The Mission U.K. – “Deliverance” from Carved In Sand (1990) Poster Children – “Junior Citizen” from Junior Citizen (1995) The Men – “Chuch Of Logic, Sin, & Love” from The Men (1992) Thee Hypnotics  - “Heavy Liquid” from The Very Crystal Speed Machine (1993) Mind Over Four – “Funny Pocket” from Halfway Down (1993) Overwhelming Colorfast – “Arrows” from Overwhelming Colorfast (1992) Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts! 5. Ep. 326: Splinters & Stitches: Supergroups & Offshoots pt.5

    MAR 20

    Ep. 326: Splinters & Stitches: Supergroups & Offshoots pt.5

This week, we are talking about bands that have rock stars in them: Supergroups and Offshoots. We once again discuss how a band consisting of well-known artists from other bands does not always equal great success. Dive in with us as we discuss and listen to some of the more obscure supergroups and offshoots that didn’t break with huge mainstream success or stay around very long. What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show, Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection: an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week, we talk exclusively about Supergroups featuring famous solo artists and band members, along with Offshoots, which are bands that contain the bulk of a previous incarnation of a famous band. We hope that we turn you on to something new. Songs this week include: Alcatrazz – “Painted Lover” from Disturbing The Peace (1985) Subrosa – “World’s Greatest Lover” from Never Bet The Devil Your Head (1997) Black Swan – “The Fire And The Flame” from Paralyzed (2026) THE LAST ROCKSTARS – “THE LAST ROCKSTARS (Paris Mix)” from THE LAST ROCKSTARS (2022) Circus Diablo - “Mad Parade” from Circus Diablo (2007) DREAMCAR – “We Rats” from Dream EP (2024) Swedish Metal Aid – “Give A Helpin’ Hand” from Give A Helpin’ Hand - single (1985) Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts! Ep. 325: Monstrous Montages – AOR IV

This week, we’ve got the touch. We’ve got the power. There’s no easy way out, but we won’t stop believin’! Oh yeah, it’s time once again for some of that amazingly inspirational AOR arena rock montage music! This time around, it has a St. Patty’s Day spin to it. Be all you can be, feel the burn, and drink some green beer! This episode is rooted in all 3 categories of lost, forgotten, and should have beens. These bands all provide fist pumpingly perfect sounds of AOR / Arena Rock gold from the late 70s to now. Their music pairs perfectly with action and teen coming-of-age movies and was a big part of our youth! We hope we turn you on to something new! 7. Ep. 324: Old Soles – A Shoegaze Revival 2

    MAR 6

    Ep. 324: Old Soles – A Shoegaze Revival 2

This week, we promote awareness of “Shoe The World Day – March 15” by visiting a long-forgotten genre that emerged in the late 80s – early 90s. A genre that exploited obscured vocals, guitar distortion, effects, feedback, and overwhelming volume: SHOEGAZE. In part 1, we focused mostly on bands from the UK, but in part 2, we are exploring bands from other parts of the world. These bands use the artistry of guitar innovation to paint some wonderfully layered sonic canvases! If you have a preconceived notion that you don’t like this stuff, we ask that you give this episode a shot, as you might be surprised how much it rocks… What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show, Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection: an artist, album, or grouping of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. If you were into this music when it came out back in the early 90s, chances are that you haven’t revisited it in a while. Come along on this ride with us and spend the next 90 minutes staring at your feet! We hope we turn you on to something new! Songs this week include: Big Jesus – “Felt In Reverse” from Oneiric (2016) Band Of Susans – “Pearls Of Wisdom” from Veil (1993) Blackwater Holylight – “Bodies” from Not Here Not Gone (2026) Kent – “Lifesavers” from Isola (1998) Softcult – “16/25” from When A Flower Doesn’t Grow (2026) Swirlies – “San Cristobal De Las Casas” from They Spent Their Wild Youthful Days In The Glittering World Of The Salons (1996) HUM – “Starts” from You’d Prefer An Astronaut (1995)   Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!:InObscuria Store Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/ https://www.facebook.com/InObscuria https://twitter.com/inobscuria https://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/ If you want to hear Robert and Kevin’s band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/ Check out Robert’s amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/ If you’d like to check out Kevin’s band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/

  8. Ep. 323: Grave Mistake: EDGUY Shoulda Been Huge!!! Part 2

    FEB 27

Ep. 323: Grave Mistake: EDGUY Shoulda Been Huge!!! Part 2

This week we’re talking about that guy again… The 2nd episode focused on EDGUY in another edition of our “Grave Mistakes: They Shoulda Been Huge!!!”. A German power metal band that Kevin affectionately calls “Helloween Jr.”. This episode starts at the peak of their provocative power metal prowess and ends with their evolution to a hard-rocking power glam powerhouse. They did well in Europe and other parts of the world, but we think they Shoulda Been Huge in the States! This episode is rooted in our Should Have Been category. A German band that followed in the footsteps of Helloween, flying the flag of “Power Metal” from the late 90s to 2014. Unfortunately, they were never really recognized to the degree they deserve outside of Europe. We think they SHOULDA BEEEN HUGE… and we are ready to fly that banner proudly! Songs this week include: Edguy - “Mysteria” from Hellfire Club (2004) Edguy - “Superheroes” from Superheroes – EP (2005) Edguy - “Rocket Ride” from Rocket Ride (2006) Edguy - “Nine Lives” from Tinnitus Sanctus (2008) Edguy - “Lavatory Love Machine (Live)” from F*****g With Fire (Live In Sao Paolo 2006) (2009) Edguy - “Pandora’s Box” from Age Of The Joker (2011) Edguy - “Love Tyger” from Space Police – Defenders Of The Crown (2014)   Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!:InObscuria Store Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/ https://www.facebook.com/InObscuria https://twitter.com/inobscuria https://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/ Check out Robert’s amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/ If you’d like to check out Kevin’s band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/ If you want to hear Robert and Kevin’s band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/
