    Preparedness and Political Turmoil

    Preparedness and Political Turmoil

Turmoil is everywhere, politics is on fire, governments around the world are doing crazy things, this is a difficult and stressful time.  So what can we do?  We can insulate ourselves with a prepared life, from the decisions governments make, keep our house in order, participate in debate without causing mental injury and ensuring that government decisions do not affect our ability to provide for our families and to chase our dreams.

Preparedness and Online ID Theft - A Real Tale of Loss

Preparedness and Online ID Theft - A Real Tale of Loss

This week we discuss the real world loss of @bucketlisthomestead's YouTube channel.  It was stolen from the owner, videos deleted and blocked her access.  She had two-factor authentication  on, using her cell phone, and it did not work.  Someone was able to access her account, block the 2 factor, prevent the notification of a new login from a different source message and then change all her settings and delete a year's worth of work.
Today, we discuss how to conduct your online audit, looking for single points of failure and how to construct your presence to be the best protected you can.

Lynn was a guest on S3E15, a long time friend and a human with a heart of gold.

    Preparedness and Research

    Preparedness and Research

How do we go about understanding the world around us?  The scientific method is highly regarded as the most appropriate method to answer important questions of our time, including the ongoing research efforts into emergency preparedness.  Today I discuss the process followed in research, using my own as an example.  A lighthearted look at evidence, facts, questions.  Defining the problem to understanding what a fact is.  Fun for research nerds.

    Preparedness and Coffee

    Preparedness and Coffee

Coffee fuels our lives, it's our go-to drink for wakey wakey, when we need to hyper focus and just to provide some warmth.  Our preparedness and coffee investments have a relationship in time, resources, effort, learning and confidence.
Do you seek the instant coffee solution to preparedness, the pre-packaged kit?  You're going to have a bitter aroma and horrible after taste.
Do you seek the consistency of a Keurig pod coffee preparedness plan, pre-made, form filling and ready to go - just follow instructions?  You're going to have an acceptable but far less than ideal outcome, settling for something that is vague and likely a bad family fit.
Pour over style - your preparedness is a living thing, learning, trials, failure, lessons, detail towards everything.
    Listen and enjoy!

Preparedness - Bug Out / Evacuation / INCH / Go Bags

Preparedness - Bug Out / Evacuation / INCH / Go Bags

We love them, hate them and mostly misunderstand why they exist.  We chat about how to first determine why the bag is necessary, exactly what task it will fulfill, understanding the influences of weather, ground and geography play on the design and use - finally filling it to meet its intended purpose.

    Short and to the point

    Preparedness - Pre-Winter Logistics Assessment

    Preparedness - Pre-Winter Logistics Assessment

Periodic reviews of our preparedness plans are important to ensure that we are ready for what we intend to be ready for - identify where we fall short and address skill fade etc.
Logistics is the art of life cycle management - from decision to acquire to disposal and every activity in-between.  As such, we need to consider our animalistic requirements, evacuation, administration and our current situation through this frame.
