So glad I came across this charming and informative podcast. Great blend of insights and explorations. Binged the entire six episodes. Recommend highly!

As we exit another divisive election cycle, it is easy to think of policy in a purely academic sense, rationalizing programs based on statistics or economic principles. But these policies are designed to help real people. People who are struggling while the stock market is soaring again. This series does a beautiful job at humanizing public housing policy and the very real ways it helps and hinders residents. It includes voices on all sides and is quick to check assumptions and common narratives against lived experiences of residents. We need more reporting like this.

Much-needed reporting on a vulnerable demographic that is often dehumanized and overlooked. It’s fascinating to listen to stories from voices we don’t often make space for. I feel that it will help me make more informed decisions on how best to lift up our low-income citizens going forward!

Thoughtful and honest reporting that explains the complexities of public housing, and the different experiences tenants have had (past and present).
