Jeff, missing some opps

I just listened to the episode with Molly McHugh. It was the most interesting one yet for me, but I feel like Jeff missed a couple opportunities here: - she dismissed the James Dalmore google memo as “spewing misogyny”. Would like to click in to that a bit more. There are plenty of world class evolutionary biologists who would agree with the general premise of Dalmore’s memo. Clearly Molly has accepted the liberal tech elite “party line” on this one. The listeners know this isn’t the case with Jeff and we are left to wonder why he doesn’t dig in to the topic a bit. - she said that certain twitter posts of Ben Shapiro “should probably be deleted” in the context of the assault on free speech from the left. She basically reinforced your point and Jeff was too cordial to drill in. - as a “tech reporter” the idea that she “disengages from social media” is a bit laughable. It’s like Allen Iverson talking about practice. This is evident when she can’t recall names of Ello, Outbrain, and Taboolah, which are prominent figures in the tech landscape. A tech reporter should be expected to be an expert on technology, which means participating in it. A sports reporter would not survive talking about “that one guy on that one team I just can’t remember because honestly I don’t watch sports much”. Might be painful these days since it’s not “cool” to buy on amazon or use Facebook, but it’s a job requirement. All in all a good guest but a lot of cognitive dissonance from someone expected to report deeply on an industry she doesn’t seem to really believe in.
A must for your library...

Witty, insightful, and thought-provoking, Jeff is so fun to listen to and his guests have been vast. A great listen for anyone looking for a laugh and to realize that we are not alone on our, maybe often neurotic, quest for self-improvement.
Fantastic!

I’m in and I’m OBSESSED

I am really weary of podcasts. I love self-improvement but sometimes it’s too vague, preachy, or masturbatory. The discussion behind rituals and process is I think actually more helpful. The range of people and topics have hit all the marks of my interest. Creatives. Health. Wealth. Ferris-heads. Jeff is the perfect host with an inviting, friendly, fun direction. This is kinda like the perfect podcast. I leave with something I’ve learned, something to read, and maybe with a little more focus.
Highly recommend
