    Interference Ep 3: Examining U.S. Intervention in 2011 Libya with Writer and former Professor, Gregg Pascal Zachary

    In this episode, we interview Gregg Pascal Zachary, a writer and former professor of practice in the Cronkite School of Journalism, and the Consortium for Science Policy and Outcomes, at Arizona State University on the impact of U.S. intervention in Libya.  The Libyan Civil War consisted of an armed conflict between Gaddafi’s government and anti-Gaddafi forces, also known as rebels, looking to overthrow his government. The United States became involved with the Libyan Civil War by implementing diplomatic initiatives and sanctions against Gaddafi’s government. Zachary provides his insight and expertise on the strategies adopted by the U.S. government and the lasting effects of their actions today.

    Interference Ep 2: Examining U.S. Intervention in 1953 Iran with National Security Archives Director, Malcolm Byrne

    In this episode, we interview the National Security Archive Deputy Director and Director of Research, Malcolm Byrne, on the 1953 Iranian coup. The coup was the overthrow of the democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh in favor of strengthening the monarchy rule of the Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi on 19 August 1953, which was orchestrated by the United States. The US government called the plan “Operation Ajax” and it was carried out by the Iranian military. He gives his insight on the tactics utilized by the U.S. military and the ramifications of their intervention.

    Interference Ep 1: Examining U.S. Intervention in 1960-1973 Chile with ex. CIA Deputy Director Jack Devine and National Security Archives Director of Documentation Peter Kornbluh

    In this podcast, we interview Jack Devine, ex. CIA Deputy Director and Peter Kornbluh, the National Security Archives Director of Chile Documentation on the 1973 Chilean coup d'état. The military coup was led by Chilean Army General Augusto Pinochet and backed by President Nixon and the CIA. They deposed socialist President Salvador Allende and Pinochet became Chile's President from 1974-1990, where thousands of citizens were tortured during his dictatorial reign. Devine and Kornbluh both shed light on the realities of CIA intervention in Chile and discuss the U.S.'s motivation, tactics, and outcome.
