This was an episode for the ages. When time comes for you to air "The Best of Intersections with Phil Allen, Jr.," make sure this one is included. I boarded the #BlackGirlMagic bus you and sister Joanne Marie were co-piloting, but I didn't realize where the GPS was headed until the show was over. That #BlackGirlMagic bus dropped me off at the intersection of Enlightened Ave. and Toredown Blvd. Jozanne's story, and storytelling, impacted me. How else to explain that in listening to Jozanne unfold her journey, I found myself holding my breath. Twice.
Jozanne seaks and there is, indeed, no better response than "Preach!" when she shares the learnings - hard won, painfully won, joyously won -- that enabled her to stand in truth and triumph. I noted two of those lessons:
"Shame can keep you hidden and unable to move in the freedom of who you are." And "You may not feel the good before; sometimes you'll feel the good only after your obedience to God."
My wish for Jozanne is that she feels the good for all the days she moves in the freedom of who she is.
And, Phil, please do have Jozanne return to "Intersections." I have the episode title for you already: "You Better Say A Word Today!"
