Into the Pray Nick & Mairi Franks

In this week’s episode of Into the Pray, I drive to a local quiet spot on the east coast of north Scotland to read for you a 1953 address of Dr Martin Lloyd-Jones that ultimately caused John Stott, British Theologian from Cambridge, to publicly rebuke him.

Lloyd-Jones disagreed with ecumenicalism and the socio-political gospel of  Billy Graham so strongly that he chose to face the ignominy that resulted from distancing himself from them rather than falling into the reality of Galatians 1:7-8.

Think along with me — are the attitudes which are central to the ecumenical agenda — in the Church and within Christian homes — really the foundations of faithful Christian relationships that are true to the gospel of Jesus Christ? What really of these “agree to disagree” agendas that cast a very dark shadow over those who refuse to agree that some matters, and some behaviours, shouldn’t ever be expected to change?

As Nick and Mairi discuss together, on the one hand we should be all calling out the contradictory condition of the Church with heated indignation and the sharpness of the prophetic gifts of the Holy Spirit, (50% of the Church are in error to the dishonour of God), but we should also produce the bountiful fruit in keeping with His nature.

Nick recently had a significant conversation with a dairy farmer, Edward, while he milked his cows. Edward opened up about the inordinate pressures that he and his family are being put under by the godless government of the land which now means that a bottle of water is more expensive (of more worth) than a bottle of milk. But what does this have to do with eating at McDonald's and shopping with Amazon?

In today's episode of Into the Pray  we explain why we've recently stopped eating McDonald's and shopping with Amazon.

What are ultra-processed foods (UPFs)?
Is Amazon's customer service really as good as we're all led to believe that it is?
Is McDonald's OK to eat?

Back in the spring of this I year, I published the seminal work, "The Glorious Few: Redeeming Radicalisation in the Kingdom of God." In the period of 2 weeks following publishing, several major things happened all at once that could have happened at any point in the previous 9 years. The disruption of the Lord culminated in Mairi resigning from her role as a Teacher of French in a large secondary school in Edinburgh and was a disruption that I wrote about prophetically in the book's epilogue.
