Iran: The Latest

I really enjoy this podcast and the sharp analysis and variety of guests. But it does seem to have a definite pro-Iran, pro-China, anti-US slant. The hosts and guests sometimes appear to have a certain glee in recounting what they see as a series of catastrophic failures on the part of the US. Aside from the fact that much of current media seems to be in the business of rushing to judgment and reaching premature conclusions, my understanding of journalism is that it should aspire to present the full picture of what’s being covered, including opposing views or opinions. Maybe the hosts could have some pro-US or at least more neutral guests on in order to provide a more complete picture of what’s happening.

Today’s host Missed a great opportunity to have an objective report. The report started out decidedly negative dismissing the potential merit of any engagement with Syria in this terrible conflict. The reporter does not need to tell me how to think. The reporter needs to report the situation and if it’s bad for the president of the United States so be it. But an option should not be discarded just because someone who is distasteful to this particular host of the program today.. please be more objective and don’t fall into disparaging, a man who can be unpredictable, but is hardly useless or worthless, which was the implication of the beginning monologue

The Telegraph is so good about the Ukraine War but they only seem to have contempt for Israel. Israel is attacked and suddenly we need a ceasefire! How much of Hamas’s propaganda is being repeated here? Only good to know what British anti-semites think. There is no anti-Hamas voices here. Just Anti-Israeli bias and racism to Jews. They talk to doctors complaining about gun shot victims with no context that these are Hamas fighters who raped young girls. They should be shot and doctors complaining that Israel isn’t giving them medical supplies is morally reprehensible. The Telegraph isn’t admonishing the West and Ukraine for sanctioning Russia and not sending them supplies! The explanation seems to be racism against Jews. Hamas needs to be destroyed, including bomb engineers and accountants. They listen Lebanese talk about how hard it is to live in war but nothing from the Israelis who were attacked and whose children were targeted and killed by Hezbollah. Just a lady defending Hezbollah. Typical British Jew hatred.

I found this when I searched for “Iran” in a different podcast app, and it has been enormously substantive and helpful. They seem to have really knowledgeable guests on, especially on military matters. The tone is refreshingly neutral and factual. Since it is not an American podcast, it lacks the sort of republican/democrat partisan perspective, which I appreciate. I now listen to each episode, it often contains important information I don’t find in the NYT or WSJ.
