Self-reflection with assistance

Super interesting conversation(s) between two friends/artists, Nick Thorburn and Tom Scharpling, covering the context and motivation of the work of Thorburn’s ‘Islands.’ I love hearing about what went into each of these records, and Tom’s deep knowledge and love of the records shines through, insightfully underscoring many unique strengths and traits of the work. Thorburn is a supremely talented artist and it’s great getting a deep dive of what he’s made thus far, learning more about his process and experience over the years. Would recommend not just to existing Islands fans, but anyone interested in listening to a conversation about how an artist develops their craft/work, especially as it relates to their circumstances, influences, and identity. And once you’ve listened to this, maybe buy a record or two (or three)
