It's All About Vinyl

Electronic Sound

It's All About Vinyl is presented by Mark Roland and Push, two veteran music journalists whose long history with music journalism started with fanzines in the post-punk, new wave England of the 1980s, before ascending to the giddy heights of the weekly music press as writers and section editors at Melody Maker, and now as the founders of the widely respected music magazine and online platform Electronic Sound. It's All About Vinyl is a podcast about records, the culture around them, and the strange, brilliant stories hiding in the grooves. From format quirks and forgotten formats to music history, magazines (actually quite a lot of mag chat), charts and scenes, each episode digs into why vinyl still matters – and why it always will. Drop the needle and join us. Warning: It is also entirely likely that the chat will veer wildly off course. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

EP11: The New Synth Supergroup! Pink Floyd Top 5 Albums! Listener feedback! Dutch Architecture!

In this episode, Electronic Sound magazine founders Mark Roland and Push reveal the identity of the new synth supergroup and fill in the detail of this bold new venture, tackle some more viewer feedback, including input from the Freddie Starr fan club about the last episode's mention of his Elvis tribute era, and wrap up by ranking their favourite Pink Floyd albums, an exercise moderately less messy than when they tried to rank Sweet singles. Each episode explores the history, culture and happy accidents behind recorded music, from spinning speeds and forgotten formats to music magazines, charts and the people who shaped how we listen. It’s a chatty, curious look at vinyl and the analogue world around it: part music history, part trivia, part conversation. Whether you’re a serious collector, a casual listener, or someone who’s ever said “I’ve got that on vinyl”, this is a show about why records still matter – and why they always will.
