    Greenwood librarian Michelle Oliver lost her 24-year-old son to suicide six years ago. Since then, she's turned her grief into a powerful mission—researching and advocating for mental health awareness to ensure that no other family, and no other student, has to go through that same pain. Kelby Agnew reports. NOTE:  A few months after her son's death, Mrs. Oliver collaborated to create a unit about mental health issues teachers can use as they teach Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet."     Wasn't Any Maybe So: Poems about the Negro Leagues

    Loren Broaddus is a Greenwood history teacher, a baseball fan, and a published poet. He talks to Cooper Juneau about his latest work, due to be published in the spring, which focuses on the Negro Leagues. The book's title, "Wasn't Any Maybe So," actually comes from a quote by the great Satchel Paige. The poems reflect on many aspects of the Negro Leagues through the fictionlized thoughts of Kansas City Monarchs star Newt Allen, who in real life played for the Monarchs for over 20 years.  Broaddus's 2018 book of poetry was titled, "Joe DiMaggio Moves Like Liquid Light."
