  3. Best Indie Comics for Big Two Readers with Glenn Matchett

    10/24/2025

Best Indie Comics for Big Two Readers with Glenn Matchett

This week, Joe talks with his friend Glenn about the best indie comics for big two readers. These are comics from publishers like Image, Boom! Studios and Dark Horse that would be good gateway series for readers who have primarily read comics from Marvel and DC. It also sparked an interesting conversation about accessibility in comics, and how intimidating it can be to venture out beyond the "big two" comic publishers. 4. Kickstarter Conversation: Christof Bogacs, David Hazan and Phil Appley on Requiem #1-3

Kickstarter Conversation: Christof Bogacs, David Hazan and Phil Appley on Requiem #1-3

This week, Joe talks with the creative trio of Christof Bogacs (co-writer), David Hazan (co-writer) and Phil Appley (artist) about the first three issues of their horrific sci-fi thriller, Requiem. I loved the first two issues of Requiem, described as a sci-fi horror murder mystery for fans of Alien: Earth, The Expanse, Dead Space and Event Horizon, and I'm excited to see where it goes next. Christof, David and Phil are great creators that have collectively worked across DC, Image, Boom!, Oni, Mad Cave and more, including various Kickstarter projects, and I really hope that this series gets to continue. The campaign for Requiem #1-3 is live on Kickstarter until 6th November at kickstarter.com/projects/christofbogacs/requiem-1-3-hard-sci-fi-collides-with-psychological-horror. Requiem really needs and deserves your support, so please go back the campaign if you can. Projects like this won't happen without your support. It's vital to their success. Kickstarter Conversation: Frederik Hornung on Seconds to Midnight: Book One

This week, Joe talks with horror cartoonist Frederik Hornung about Seconds to Midnight: Book One, his new retro pulp horror anthology. This was a really fun, seasonally appropriate conversation talking about the creepy themes and influences of the book and the various unsettling stories involved. We also discuss some of our favourite horror movies, and how they relate back to Seconds to Midnight. The campaign is live on Kickstarter until 2nd November at kickstarter.com/projects/986460534/seconds-to-midnight-book-one-a-retro-horror-anthology.
