Boulder City Life – The Joshua P. Warren Band!

Boulder City, Nevada: BoulderCityLife.com Lyrics: Written by Joshua P. Warren Copyright © 2023 by Joshua P. Warren & Shadowbox Enterprises, LLC Roy came from TN in 1931 He took his fiddle and sat In the middle of a train that barely run. Uncle Sam said build this dam For 60 cents and food He camped in the desert And sweated in the weather But kept a cheerful mood. Them dynamite explosions then Killed some o' the best, But he hauled them rocks And dragged the box And laid 'em to their rest. The nights were hot On dirty cots And they couldn't have no beer, But they snuck in a little While Roy played his fiddle And they made it through the years. When Uncle Sam Said see the dam, Your term's up if you like, Ol' Roy said I'll try some more O' this Boulder City life. ---------------- Roy's buddy got a job at a hotel in the town And then he hired Roy on Draggin' baggage up and down. Frankenstein showed up one day Splittin' with his bride He slapped Roy a 20 And said that's plenty If u help me try and hide. Then Howard Hughes Won't wear no shoes, And it ain't because he's poor, And every day some yellow juice Would appear outside his door. The nights were hot On dirty cots And they couldn't have no beer, But they snuck in a little While Roy played his fiddle And they made it through the years. When Roy's job Went to the mob, And they told him take a hike, Ol' Roy said I'll try some more O' this Boulder City life. Now autos came from far and wide As all the roads kept clearin' People smiled for photos at The dam's great engineerin'. And ice cream shops and candy stores Were spoken of in couplet Cause everyone loves pictures of The Winged Figures of the Republic (Yeah, you try to rhyme that!) ------------ Now Alice had been in the town Since 1935 And Roy'd had his eye on her But she was awful shy He asked her if she'd go with him Out to see the dam They ate some cheese and crackers there And California ham. The sun was purple on the rocks The breeze was warm and calmin' And they snuck in a little While Roy played his fiddle Until the sun was dawnin' . . . Roy said it's paradise And she became his wife He knew that he Was here to stay In this Boulder City life. Yeah, Roy said it's paradise And she became his wife He knew that he Was here to stay In this Boulder City life!
