Joshua Shultz is a talented beam of light finding his way through the sometimes murkiness of the business of entertainment. He’s surprisingly soft spoken and humble compared to the boldness of his images and depth of emotion his work evokes. Joshua has created some of my favorite photos, inexplicably capturing the various aspects of his subjects’ authentic personalities as well as their portrayed personas. I feel every one of them deep in my heart, whether the piece is intense or whimsical. His raw honesty about the changes he made to transform himself and the risks he took to follow his heart, which led him to his passion and an unexpected career, are refreshing and inspiring. And he relays these stories in his gentle, casual tone. The listener realizes how profound these details are even if the storyteller is quite unassuming. It definitely leaves me wanting more, more explanation , more details, more stories. Josh’s willingness to take on the subject of human trafficking, something that has plagued our society for eons and needs to be exposed, is a courageous move. It seems his career was preparing him in a relatively short amount of time, to gain the skills needed to tell this story in the award winning film “Americana”. We will be fortunate to see the next chapter of that vision come to fruition. Josh has a calling to not only bring out the beauty in life that we may have otherwise missed, but also to help others on their artistic path, share his experiences and advocate for those who need it. This podcast is yet another platform in which he furthers that intention. Thanks, Josh. More, please!
