Episode 016. Update, Upcoming Video/Guide Course and Expanding On Our Morning Commute Conversation

Episode 016. Update, Upcoming Video/Guide Course and Expanding On Our Morning Commute Conversation

Episode 16 is here. This episode is a bit of a mixed bag. We are in the heart of our wedding season. So we update you guys on that.

We also touch on our upcoming video/recipe guide. We worked really hard on this, and cannot wait to get it out to you guys. More details to come!

With having a toddler, having time to bring up topics and brainstorm happens seldomly. So our car ride to the shop is where it happens most often. Yesterday morning we had a good conversation. So we decided to expand on that during the episode.

As always, we appreciate you. Much love from, Avaflora.

    Episode 015. Styled Shoots

We are back with episode 15.

In this episode we discuss our vacation last week and our styled photo shoot from earlier this week.

Frequent questions asked regarding photo shoots are whether or not they are worth the time, and budget.

Regardless of which stage your business is in, photo shoots have the potential to provide a lot of value. We go over the benefits of participating in them. And while difficult to advise, we touch on the question of budgeting for them.

We hope you enjoy this one. Feel free to share any feedback on the subject. Much ❤️

    Episode 014. Pricing

    Episode 014. Pricing

Pricing. We get asked often what to charge, how to charge, and how to turn a profit.

Pricing, for some reason, is difficult to talk about. It shouldn’t be. There is an industry standard on flower markups, it’s no secret.

The hard part is doing your homework- Getting market knowledge, building relationships with your supplier, working on flower/supply budgets, etcetera. Knowing the market, and knowing your market is the key here.

In this episode, we discuss ways (ways that have worked for us) to help keep the business profitable. Also, solutions to common mistakes we hear from other florists.

We would love to hear feedback from you guys. Whether it be problems you are running into, or other solutions you can share. Thanks for listening!

Floral Business Just Got Real!

Thank you Lori and Mike for providing honest and realistic floral industry advice because there aren’t enough experienced educators being transparent with the costs and vendor expectations from a professional floral designer’s perspective! Discovered this invaluable resource from Tea with Jaine’s interview. Thank you again, this is truly helpful and insightful! Please comeback!

Interesting and Informative podcast

I have been following Avaflora on Instagram for years. I look forward to seeing the posts from Lori because I love her work. I find her to be very talented , and I feel like she works with flowers in a unique and interesting way. When I saw the post about Mike and Lori starting a podcast , I became curious. I have never heard a podcast before , and seeing as I love her work I figured I would hear what Mike and Lori have to say as business owners. I have listened to all 8 of her podcasts at this point. I find them all to be very informative. I know these podcasts are catered for clients, business owners , prospective business owners, and people who are working with flowers , BUT I am none of the those things and I still found these podcasts to be very informative. Without giving away all the information Mike and Lori have shared in their podcasts ,I will write just a few things that stuck out to me. First, I liked the podcast about Instagram the most. If I wanted to start a business or even sell something to an audience, that podcast helped me learn how to set a page up in a way that I feel would gain more clients. It was very informative. Next,I liked when Mike explained what he brings to Avaflora as a shared business owner. I live out of state, and I never knew what his part of the business was. I also enjoyed when Lori talked with a few guest speakers. I learned that if I wanted to plan a wedding it is easier to have a team who will collaborate with each other( Ex. The florist and the photographer). Lori elaborates on this in her latest podcast. Lastly, I find the Juggling with Flowers podcasts to be relaxing and enjoyable. I like the tone Mike and Lori have. I love how Mike and Lori complement each other when they talk. These podcasts do not sound scripted. I get a sense that Mike and Lori really enjoy helping people ,and they both want to establish a trusting relationship with their clients. Listening to these podcasts gave me the feeling that Mike and Lori love what they do , and want to continue to bring valuable content through their podcasts.
