Welcome to the JULIE JEPPSON podcast. So glad you're here. After a heartbreaking loss in the summer of 2022, my 8 kids and I are picking up the pieces of our former lives and moving forward. In this podcast, I interview Gritty Mamas from all over who have pushed, pulled, endured, persisted, insisted, and MOMINATED some pretty impossible burdens. These women are survivors and their stories deserve to be heard. My hope is that you can hear their stories and walk away inspired and uplifted by their capacity to KEEP GOING, no matter what. Because you can too. There's also hidden gems within this podcast with my own children, my parents, mental health experts, spiritual health and wellness mentors, relationship specialists, and other exceptional GRITTY professionals. I come from Grit. My ancestors are the definition of it. So here, I'm taking back my name and my power and I intend to use it to help you remember, too, of the gritty mamas who have gone before you, who will come behind you, but most of all, the gritty mama inside you.

Episode 17: AFTER FINISHING HER SEXUAL ASSAULT EXAM, I WASHED HER FEET

Episode 17: AFTER FINISHING HER SEXUAL ASSAULT EXAM, I WASHED HER FEET

Dr. Julie Valentine is a forensic nurse and mother to 8 children. I was seriously not worthy to be in her presence! She mothered 8 children, and got a PHD with a 2 year old in tow, and thanks to her efforts, the largest state database on sexual assault cases exists in the United States. But it's always about her patients. I was in awe of her capacity to love them, and help them find healing, and she gives a word of warning to those who may be suffering from domestic violence, and don't know it.

Inspiring!

This podcast about powerful women is truly inspiring! Julie does a great job interviewing women with stories of grit. I love how real she is and love the fact that she’s in her closet.

Over speaking the guests

I have been enjoying this podcast, and the stories that are being shared. But what is really grinding my gears is that Julie asks so many questions, and does not let the guests answer. Either it’s her asking questions and telling the person story at the same time, and not letting them answer or she’s putting words into their mouth, not letting them even complete a thought.

Also, she doesn’t edit out the times where she stops or covers up the audio and so it’s really awkward when there’s just random silence.
