    Cultural Appropriation vs Cultural Appreciation

    Where is the line between cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation? The mean: Appreciation is when someone seeks to understand and learn about another culture in an effort to broaden their perspective and connect with others cross-culturally. Appropriation on the other hand, is simply taking one aspect of a culture that is not your own and using it for your own personal interest. - Are fashion company/ organisation respecting the culture or ripping it off? - How do I know I'm appreciating a culture? And when it crosses the line into appropriating a culture? intention vs impact: - Just because you like something, isn't enough for it to be appreciating, because the impact matters too. - certain Black hairstyles were not acceptable at school, whereas Kim Kardashian & Miley Cyrus can go on to wear African braids without issue (a clear example of her intention for fashion but the impact wasn’t successful). - Would you say Eminem is an example of both cultural appropriation and appreciation? The musician is “accepted as a successful practitioner of an African American musical style by African American musicians. He respects the culture from which he has appropriated and is in turn, respected.” - there are lot of companies, a lot of organisations, and a lot of people that are using us as your props. Using us to gain legitimacy, validation, even wealth... Just to let you know we see right through it. Main Topic Question: Do we have to necessarily get married? To prove our love TO OUR PARTNER -Can a wedding set your future back? From a guys perspective -If you can’t be real with your circle/ spouse, you’re in the wrong circle! -Do you think if it was up to men would we ever get married. -Signing a prenup -is seeing your girlfriend/ wife once a week, enough to maintain a relationship/ marriage? Ex like having a military husband or Bf. -How far would you go to support the person you love? -Is marriage a reward for a female or both? -What are your biggest fears about marriage & relationship? -‘Selfishness in marriage cannot coexist’ you can not be selfish & maintain a healthy relationship/ marriage... u have to be willing to give up- yourself, love, respect, time, energy, & finances etc -We need to be assertive in your communication. Say what you need? don’t expect me to read your mind.. or wait until you are in frustration to be assertive. -Rebuilding trust is a process & consistency specially in marriage/ relationships it cannot be rebuilt in an instant. -Money can give you all the fake women you want in the world.. -Does a good woman just wants your love, Time, and attention. Referring to her as "GI Jane", Rock made an unsavoury joke about Jada's baldness, to which her husband, Will reacted with a slap onstage -What do you think about Chris rock & Will smith confrontation? -Did will smith go overboard with his reaction? -One side thinking that Chris rock should apologise to jada -The other side thinks will smith should hand his award back to the academy -And Chris rock didn’t press chargers…what do you think?
