Keep On Moving Podcast UDC Business Edition July 26

This month is a little different. Gavin Myers, editor of New Zealand Trucking magazine joins Dave McCoid for a discussion that takes in the first two industry  conferences of the season, plus they cover-off the OEM Update and Powering On courtesy of Dave's recent trip to the MAN pre-IAA press event in Germany. It's a great yarn. This year's road transport Hall of Fame function is a whole new doo, with a conference heading a solid half week of road transport discussion, activity, and celebration. We catch up with head of marketing at Transport World, Nicole Sharp to get an idea of what's in store. Clear the Air is the section where co-host Dave McCoid and his good mate and Environmental champion Lindsay Wood discuss the climate and envirionmental issues of the day, as they should be discussed - respectfully! This month, impending global food shortage, the energy crisis, and infrastructure! There's no rabbit hole Lindsay and I are afraid of! On Schedule is the series where Dave McCoid, editorial director at New Zealand Trucking Media, speaks with the National Road Carriers senior team and guests on a broad selection of topical industry subjects as well as the work the association does – the wins, the challenges, and the strategies taken on key issues of the day. This month, it's a fascinating chat. A PhD in economics, Stuart is a senior fellow with Motu Research based in Wellington, working at the interface between economic research and public policy. This work draws on his training in economics and two decades of experience working as a consultant in Australia, New Zealand, and the Netherlands. His areas of expertise include spatial, urban, and transport economics, multi-modal transport planning, land use and infrastructure policy. He says he is comfortable engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including technical experts, public servants, elected representatives, media, and the general public.

Join the team at New Zealand Trucking Media as they talk with senior industry people on business at the moment, direction, and state of the industry and economy. Dave speaks with Dave Christie, director of supply chain strategy at Tainui Group Holdings (TGH) and co-founder of Synergic Technologies. The core of the discussion is Aka Raupapa, the TGH and Brightstar Events National Supply Chain Super Hui being held at The Pa, Waikato University early next month. An event for those intending to play a role in the nation's supply chain activities in the coming generation, there's no question the TGH-developed Ruakura inland port and logistics super-hub is going to play a pivotal role in the New Zealand supply chain going forward. We also take time to geek out on supply chain in general, and New Zealand's situation in the world. In the OEM update, we talk with a broad cross section of original equipment suppliers to the New Zealand industry. They don't come any bigger and better known than MTE Group. Robbie Pasley is a career transport man and business development manager at the Waikato-founded-and-based road transport equipment manufacturing and service icon. He joins the OEM update on the eve of their sales conference to give us the latest.  We need to find out more about the new world heading our way. Powering On talks to people in the know and those who have already headed off on a new propulsion journey. We aim to make it not too techy, delivering useful information for those who will still be responsible for delivering our new tomorrow. We hear more and more that Europe has grabbed the energy transition horse by the riens and is taking off, leaving us in its wake. This month Dave catches up with Will Shiers, editorial director at Commercial Motor, Motor Transport, and Transport News, as well as International Truck of the Year (IToY) jury member, to see if that is in fact the case. Clear the Air is the section where co-host Dave McCoid and his good mate and Environmental champion Lindsay Wood discuss the climate and envirionmental issues of the day, as they should be discussed - respectfully! It's all on in June for the last of Lindsay's magazine based articles. We delve into the incidious world of supply chains suppprting the global 'tat' e-commerce trade, talk about the idea of many deliveries-one product, and pass like ships in hte night over hybrid vehicles.
