Keys Introduction

What is the Pathwork—and why does it matter? This introduction explores the origins and purpose of the teachings given through Eva Pierrakos, who presented profound spiritual guidance from what became known as the Pathwork Guide. Between 1957 and 1979, a group gathered regularly in New York as Eva entered a trance state, allowing the Guide to answer deeply personal and universal questions about life, truth, and human development. These teachings became known as the Pathwork®, a path of self-discovery that invites us to: • Understand ourselves more deeply • Remove inner blocks and distortions • Awaken to our true nature • Live with greater clarity, freedom, and purpose As the Guide teaches, this path is not always easy— “The way is steep and narrow and long.” But it leads to something essential: waking up to truth. This collection of Q&As offers practical, spiritual insight into the challenges we all face—and the deeper meaning behind them. – Jill Loree Pathwork Helper since 2011 Founder and manager of Phoenesse since 2015 This audio production of Keys is published by Phoenesse LLC with permission from the Pathwork Foundation. 1.1 The meaning of religion (Religion)

• What actually is religion? In this teaching from the Pathwork Guide, religion is not about dogma, rules, or belonging to a sect. Its true meaning is something far deeper: reconnection with God. This episode explores how every human longing—whether we recognize it or not—is ultimately a desire to return to that connection. While many reject “religion” due to misunderstanding, the deeper spiritual truth reveals that religion is not something external—it is an inner experience of truth, growth, and alignment with the divine. 1.2 So many religions (Religion)

• Why are there are so many different religious concepts on Earth? • How do the different main religions continue their activities in the spiritual world? Do they fight? And how far can they influence human beings? In this profound teaching from the Pathwork Guide, we explore a deeper answer: there is only one truth—but human beings perceive it in fragments. Using the powerful metaphor of a “wheel behind a veil,” this episode explains how different religions arise from partial glimpses of a greater reality. What appears contradictory on the surface may actually be different perspectives of the same universal truth. Return to Keys: Links to podcasts Listen to all of Keys Read Keys on The Guide Speaks

1.3 Going to church (Religion)

• Even if one has little interest in organized religion, one can still have a longing for the atmosphere that can exist in a church—a feeling of awe standing in front of something that is higher. Is the experience of going to church really a true thing? • The Catholic Church has managed to survive until the present day, while the gnostic religions, which are more in accord with the Pathwork teachings, have not survived. Why is this? • So this is the reason for the decline and virtual disappearance of gnostic religion? In this teaching from the Pathwork Guide, we explore a deeper truth: the real “church” exists within you. While sacred spaces, music, and atmosphere can inspire, true connection with the divine does not depend on any building, ritual, or institution. It is found through inner awareness, personal experience, and the evolution of consciousness. This episode also examines why some religions grow in outer power while others—like early Gnostic teachings—fade and reappear over time. It reveals a powerful insight: outer success is not the same as inner truth. Return to Keys: Links to podcasts Listen to all of Keys Read Keys on The Guide Speaks

1.4 Finding the Holy Ghost (Religion)

• What is the Holy Ghost and what should be our relationship to it? • And how do you actually experience it? In this teaching from the Pathwork Guide, the Holy Ghost is revealed not as something distant or abstract, but as a living reality within you. Whether understood as part of the Trinity, the Divine Spirit World, or the divine spark in every being, the true meaning of the Holy Ghost can only be known through inner transformation—not belief alone. This episode explores a powerful truth: you cannot reach God through outer dogma—you must encounter truth within yourself. 1.5 Eastern religions vs. Christianity (Religion)

• Why does Hindu philosophy not include the Fall of the Angels, as the Plan of Salvation does? • Is that perhaps the reason why the female aspect of God is recognized more there, and the male aspect of God more in the West, and that is why East and West ought to get together? • Why do Eastern religions and Christianity teach such different spiritual ideas? In this teaching from the Pathwork Guide, we explore a deeper explanation behind these differences—one that goes beyond culture or doctrine. Rather than contradicting each other, Eastern and Western spiritual traditions emphasize different aspects of the same divine reality. 1.6 Religious laws & rituals (Religion)

• In general, what purpose does ritual serve? • In the traditional Scriptures of Judaism and Islam, the texts are specific regarding the consumption of fish, flesh, and fowl; it is commanded that “of their flesh shall we not eat.” But in the fifteenth verse of Matthew, Jesus said, “Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth the man, but that which cometh out of the mouth.” Christianity, in fact, has no ban against pork, but during Lent, dietary restrictions are observed by Christians. So are the dietary laws based on that which is unclean, or on that which is holy?...So then what is the meaning of Lent and the counting of the days? • What about customs such as circumcision? • Most religions of the world use the motion of genuflecting. Many of them also use the two palms together. There are also the patterns created by the whirling dervishes. Do these movements have some inherent meaning?...Is it possible that these body positions bring about new connections in the body? For instance, if a person bows and puts his head below his heart, lowering his ego, is that position significant in some way? • Could you please explain the meaning of the sacrament of Holy Communion? Is it a ritual or is it more? In this teaching from the Pathwork Guide, we uncover the deeper truth: rituals themselves have no power—only the consciousness behind them does. Rituals were originally created as symbols and reminders of inner truths, but over time, many have become mechanical and disconnected from their meaning. 1.7 Sabbath & Yom Kippur (Religion)

• Will you explain the meaning of keeping the Sabbath holy in the face of our present-day obligations? • This night is the eve of the Sabbath. It also happens to be the eve of Yom Kippur which is the Day of Atonement. On such a night, in ancient Nazareth, it is likely that Jesus, as a Jew, would have been in the synagogue, chanting solemn prayers with his congregation. Yom Kippur is also designated as the Sabbath of Sabbaths. The word Sabbath is loaded with meaning and it appears frequently in Scripture. Jesus referred to it when he said: “The Sabbath was made for man.” What did he mean? And also, what is the significance of ritual in pursuit of the path toward God?... Yes, it is quite clear. Incidentally, the word Sabbath actually means “rest,” and it also means “seven.” I wonder if you could tie the two together. In this teaching from the Pathwork Guide, the Sabbath is revealed not as a rigid rule or specific day—but as a state of inner balance, reflection, and renewal. Originally, such teachings helped guide humanity at an earlier stage of development. But their deeper meaning goes far beyond external observance.
