Ethan Scott Baird
As we approach #Thanksgiving, one of the many parts of my life that I'm most grateful for is MUSIC. My involvement in the singer/songwriter community goes back more than 30 years now. The talent, warmth, and commitment to inclusion and community is remarkable. Some of the people I love and trust more than any other have been those friends I've made through the folk world.
Ethan Scott Baird is the Executive Director of NERFA-- the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance. From supporting to presenting to tutoring and connecting performers, venues, agents, and DJs, the annual gathering is my "happy place."
You can learn more about this community and hear how the musicians and organizations made it through the #COVID pandemic in this week's episode of "Kibbitzing with Kagan."
PS: If you're curious to learn more, consider joining my "Folk 'N Great Music" Facebook group and maybe attending a live or online concert featuring some of the alums from my concert series. -
Andrew Friedson
The youngest Councilmember ever elected, Andrew Friedson has already proven his effectiveness on the Montgomery County (Maryland) Council. Most recently, he sponsored and was able to pass (unanimously!) a resolution condemning antisemitism. With a focus on affordable housing, economic development, higher education, and much more, he'll be busy in his second four-year term!
